WonderMan3 Posted January 29, 2017 Author #151 Share Posted January 29, 2017 Looks like Luminae will have a big changeover next month, but am I reading this correctly that Capt. Leo is "new" and therefore, will be around through our March cruise? What about the CD, HD and upper level officers who set the tone for much of passenger experience? Do you, WonderMan3, or others on your LIVE thread, have an inside track on this? Somehow, my multi-quote didn't quite work correctly. I'm responding to several earlier comments. WonderMan3 Posted January 29, 2017 Author #153 Share Posted January 29, 2017 Today we spent the morning on Eagle Beach. Carol and Barbara stayed behind as they wanted to take the little trolley through downtown Oranjestad (which they later said was boring and a waste of time). The rest of us left the ship and caught a cab quickly. It was a 10 minute ride to the beach for $13. We arrived around 8:30 and found chairs at the Amsterdam Manor section of the beach. There were very few left when we arrived so we were lucky. We split the 5 of us between two palapas and it was a cost of $15 per chair. There were restrooms, a shower and a bar/snack bar close by. Jet skis and other watercraft were available to rent nearby also. We just swam and relaxed. Eagle Beach is much nicer than Palm Beach as it is far less crowded. You need to arrive early in order to ensure you can get a palapa, a must have in the hot Aruba sun. Catching a cab back required a bit more effort. While cabs drive past Eagle Beach frequently it took us some time to find one that was empty and would accommodate us (one driver stopped us from entering when he saw a bit of sand fall from one of our shoes). WonderMan3 Posted January 29, 2017 Author #154 Share Posted January 29, 2017 Today was Pie Day in Oceanview. They had a variety of both fruit pies and pot pies as well as wrapped sausages and beef pockets. Never seen this before on Celebrity so it was a nice change. All that I tried were pretty good especially the sausages and chicken pie. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
WonderMan3 Posted January 29, 2017 Author #155 Share Posted January 29, 2017 After lunch, Mike and I walked into Oranjestad and played some slots at the Crystal Casino and both walked away winners. John, Cindy and Tina took the trolley and did some shopping. Afterward, we all met up with Barbara and Carol and enjoyed a sailaway party on our balcony enjoying a variety of our own snacks as well as some the butler brought us. tnfcruise Posted January 29, 2017 #156 Share Posted January 29, 2017 Adam, I just want to say once again how enjoyable your LIVE postings are (did you know you're up to 14K views?). Your commentary and photos have all been great, but one of this evening's comments/pic really got me--PIE DAY IN OCEANVIEW! Oh boy! morbihan Posted January 29, 2017 #157 Share Posted January 29, 2017 You seem to be having a great time. I love the idea of the silent disco. What fun😀 I bet that I could win in the casino - if I knew what I was doing. Hopeless. We even asked how to play onboard Silhouette and learnt nothing. One day I will go to Vegas and watch people. Keep on enjoying yourselves. Thank you for posting.

Sent from my iPad using Forums mobile app Captain Leo is not new. He was master for our Baltic cruise on the Eclipse back in July last year and is still cracking the same jokes. :) Big changes in Luminae however the replacements are not new to the job so there should be no degradation in service. It's nice to see changes to the menu too. Can't say I've noticed the CD very much this trip to be honest.
morbihan Posted January 29, 2017 #161 Share Posted January 29, 2017 Ah, but I go back to pulling the handle down and three cherries popping up with the rattle of pennies falling. Nowadays you have to spin or move twice and still lose😀😀😀or even HOLD! I will practice.

CHEZMARYLOU Posted January 30, 2017 #164 Share Posted January 30, 2017 Really enjoying your posts. We sailed Eclipse last March in a RS and can't wait to do it again. Since you didn't have a picture of the flaming chocolate sphere, here's one from our Summit cruise.
CruisinJamma Posted January 30, 2017 #165 Share Posted January 30, 2017 I am enjoying your review so much. The pictures are amazing. Thank you for taking the time to post, especially the dailies and the port information. We're on this same cruise March 19. You are helping raise my excitement level. Thank you, again. DaisyFire Posted January 30, 2017 #169 Share Posted January 30, 2017 Really enjoying your live review! And thank you so much for posting the dailies! We are on this same itinerary in April and I like being able to get a feel for the activities and the timing of them with the different port/sea days. I have gone through each of those posted to glean what I can, but can't seem to find the one from Day 4 - January 25 - Bonaire. Perhaps I missed it in my review of your posts - but if not - would it be possible to post this Daily as well? Thanks so much! Marguerite
chamima Posted January 30, 2017 #170 Share Posted January 30, 2017 I noticed the Cruise Critic gathering in yesterday's Daily. They usually have it the first or second day of the cruise. Was this the only time they had it on your cruise? People use that meeting to connect with people they have excursions with - a week into the cruise would really mess with that! :(
doubled Posted January 30, 2017 #171 Share Posted January 30, 2017 WonderMan3 Appreciate your blog.....gives a lot of insight of what we can expect. Ex-vogue model Posted January 30, 2017 #173 Share Posted January 30, 2017 Just loving this blog and the photos. We are on the eclipse twice next year in May from Dublin and then South America on December23rd. Cannot wait - would love to visit Aruba too - hubby and I like a gamble, shopping and sunshine so it's a no brainer but not heard good reviews of the place - what's your take on Aruba?
