Don't see too much offered for this on our Escape shore excursions, so looking for an outside company who would do Jeep Excursion in Cozumel where you ride, snorkel, lunch, maybe a few drinks and/or tequila tasting etc...hoping to have a driver and if there are 6 of us if no big enough jeep for all of us we could break up into two..this would be for June..Thanks in advance! :)

For that number of people, it would be easier to hire a van for the day... That way you could all be together, and save some $. I would suggest Black Hat Tours, he will pick you up right outside the port gates and take you anywhere you wish. He will wait while you eat / drink / snorkel, ect... I would suggest heading over to the East Side (wild side) away from the crowds. http://www.blackhattours.com/

We've booked a jeep tour through Shore Excursioneer. We're looking forward to it, but a little apprehensive since it's the first time we've booked outside the cruise line.

We booked the private Jeep excursion (just 3 of us) through Shore Excursioneer and will be there mid-May. I will try to remember to post back here and let you know how it goes. :)

We booked through Cozumelcruiseexcursionsdotnet and had a private jeep to ourselves ( only 2 of us) and we went to the eastern side of island, chocolate factory, tequila making tour, to El Cedral and he took us wherever WE wanted to go! It was a 5 hour tour and the guide drove! It was 65 dollars for each person..we had lunch included and beer, water or soda. We'd do this again. It was fantastic!

We just returned from our May 14-21 cruise and had booked the Cozumel Custom Private Jeep and Snorkel Excursion with Lunch as stated above. The directions they gave to get from the ship to the meeting place were a little confusing but we finally found them. Takes a good 15-20 minute walk from the ship, and it was HOT and HUMID !!! We were walking along the main street for the most part and did not feel unsafe at any time. One of the main guys met us, checked his list and took the balance of our payment, called our driver to come to where we were since we had ended up in their main vehicle parking lot for all tours (Jeeps, ATVS, dune buggies, cars, etc.) instead of where he was expecting us. Our driver (or human GPS as he referred to himself) was Julio and he turned out to be very friendly despite his somewhat rough looking appearance (to me, a female). He had a thick beard, very dark glasses, wore a long sleeve tight fitting shirt with another dark t-shirt over that, heavy boots, and some gloves with the fingers open. Hubby found out later that Julio has a lot of tattoos and the company asks him to keep covered up for fear of offending some of the customers. There were only 3 of us in our group, hubby was required to drive and Julio was our "human GPS" and tour guide. The Jeep was a bit ragged on the inside but seemed to drive well. We noticed that the folks who rented Jeeps to drive themselves were given the nicer, newer looking Jeeps. We didn't have any particular requests for stops, just to see a lot of the island. We did not ask to do this, but Julio took us to a tequila making presentation and tasting. We had done this (at a different place) on a previous cruise, but did not want to be rude and say we didn't want to go in. It only took about 20 minutes and was a good shady, breezy place to stop. We drove on across island to the east side, along the ocean. Made a stop at a place with local vendors, a restaurant/bar, and beach across the street. Water is way too rough for swimming, but the views are gorgeous. Made another stop at a little tiki/dive bar place for fresh smoothies or alcoholic drinks. We had fresh mango smoothies (delicious) and sat in the shade behind the bar watching the ocean for a few minutes. Next stop was Punta Sur (included in the price). Very pretty views, a small Mayan museum, several vendors, good bathroom facilities, some shady places to sit and watch the ocean. When ready, we drove to the crocodile area, which was a brackish water area. Saw 2 small to medium crocodiles and a few tiny fish. Left the park and continued around the island back to the west side where the resorts and hotels are. We had lunch at Tortugas with a nice water view. For free, we could choose from tacos, quesadillas or fajitas. The menu had other items but we would have to pay for those. We did have to pay for our drinks, no biggy - totaled $12.50 I think for sodas for the three of us. Hubby and son had quesadillas and I had fish tacos which were very good. This is where we could have snorkeled if we wanted to. We did not plan to snorkel or even get in the water. We were also offered 30 minute massages (not sure of the price) and fish pedicures (10 minutes for $15). We declined both and were back on the road. My son's boss had requested some really HOT sauce so Julio took us to a small grocery/convenience store just across the street from the port. $1 per bottle compared to $15 for 2 bottles with a little sombrero if purchased inside the port. WOW!! I think we were on the tour 4-1/2 to 5 hours and never felt unsafe. The first thing Julio asked after introductions was what time we needed to be back. Cozumel and ship time are the same, so that was easy.

We did the Private Jeep Tour with http://cozumelcruiseexcursions.net a year ago and it was the highlight of our entire trip. First off they give you a cooler of beer and water in the jeep. We had a jeep that was automatic and had AC too. Our guide was Israel, and he was beyond entertaining and knowledgable. He answered all of our questions and then some.

The meeting point was only a couple minute walk from our cruise ship. Israel pulled out a map and went through the entire thing explaining the best things to do in Cozumel, and explaining that they have a custom itinerary of places they recommend. It was pretty much the everything we wanted to do, but switched the tequila tour for the chocolate factory for the kids. Our first stop was at a private beach club where we went snorkeling. We have snorkeled from a boat with them before, so we didn't expect much but we were shocked to see so much sea life snorkeling from the shore. Israel would dive down and point out the sea creatures and take photos for us with our GoPro.

Next we were off to Punta Sur Park which is included in the tour as well. Israel asked us if we wanted to relax and allow him to drive. So we did and got to enjoy the cooler of beer on the ride to Punta Sur eco park. The climb to the top of the lighthouse is a little hectic, but well worth it. The view from the top is stunning! The mayan ruin was small but had a interesting use for the mayans. Seen some crocs in the lagoon, and even seen one along side the road driving down to the tip of the island to the beach. We relaxed on the hammocks and continued to enjoy our free beer, and the kids enjoyed the beach. The water is very shallow here because of the bay, so there are no waves and perfect for younger children to swim.

We then drove along the East cost of the island, known to locals at the other side of Cozumel. It was taking a step back in time because there is no development or electricity. The beaches here were breathtaking. Israel pulled over on the side of the road and we couldnt see anything but jungle. There was a small path where we discovered rock formations, and their were two blow holes. We got some great photos and videos of the kids jumping in and out of the geysers. We traveled onto other rock formations.

We had a nice Mexican lunch at a beach club that had a swing bar, hammocks and really nice beach. The lunch is included, and we had the choice of steak, chicken and I think fish fajitas. I got the chicken and my husband had the steak. The kids got chicken quesadillas. Probably the best Mexican food we have ever had. Our last stop was the chocolate factory and by that time we were all exhausted.

We even did their bar hop tour this yeas because we didn't come with the kids, and had lots of fun. Our guide was Gizmo, and he was a blast.

I highly recommend their private jeep tour in Cozumel Mexico! You can customize your tour which is great. You can get more information about the things you can include on their website. http://cozumelcruiseexcursions.net/cozumel-jeep-tour.html

We were also a family of 4, and the jeep was four doors so there was plenty of room for our family plus our guide. You can do what we were told to do, and request the four door jeep with AC when you make your reservation with them. The communication with them is great, and Im sure they would answer any questions you have quickly, as their replies to our inquiries were prompt.
