You can add the gift cards to your onboard account and then take money from there to gamble with.  If you are sitting at a table and you want to pull money from your account, it will cost you 3% (I think this is still the amount, not 100% sure), but if you sit at a slot machine, there is no additional fee.  You sit at the machine, add funds and play.  When you are done playing, put it all on your card, go to the cashier and cash out.  IF you happen to take that money to the tables..... that is how you don't pay the 3%.

 

I personally buy cruise credit with gift cards a week or so before the cruise, and then use that for my gambling funds.  Honestly, not a big gambler, so it works well for me.

Just finished a cruise on the Carnival Miracle two days ago.  This is an accurate statement of the charges to your onboard account when using it for your casino play.  The 3% charge is still true for money pulled from your onboard account to buy chips while sitting at a table.  Obviously, loading to your slot account and then pulling the cash out at the cage -- at no charge -- is the way to avoid this 3% fee.

Well, the 10% discount when buying the gift cards more than offsets the 3% charge for getting cash at the tables. I consider it a small price to pay for some quality time with the Pit Boss. Seems to work well for us. 

 

ETA: Oh, and e-gift cards are available now in all denominations.

Correct, if you pay the 3% you are still up.  I don't actually play tables, so I would think that if I had to actually talk to a pit boss or dealer my anxiety would go into overdrive and I would somehow screw it up!!  I am so afraid of making a mistake playing the tables.  I let my husband and sons have all that fun.

Has anyone tried playing the instant win game today?  The one where you spin a wheel for a chance of prizes?  I don't remember to do it every day, but for the last few weeks, when I have signed on, I take my 3 chances, and have lost.  In the beginning I won points a few times.  So today I play, and I win a gift card.  I follow the directions to "claim" prize, and it isn't listed.  So I go back and play the game again...it is letting me play, but isn't awarding the prizes.  It is actually letting you play multiple times, when it is only supposed to let you play for 3 spins, or until you win a prize.  But then it isn't there to claim.  I tried to go in later to look at "claimed", but you can only get there after you win...so I go in again to play and win, and there is still nothing to claim.  

 

So FYI it seems to be broken today....

I won a $5 gift card this morning.  Do you have more than one page of prizes listed?  My gift card was on the 2nd page of my prize list.

No, it only shows one page...I will go into it again later and see if I can figure it out.  Maybe I will try on my cell phone instead of my laptop.

I tried it on my phone and I had success.   So it must be a glitch when I use my laptop.  It also wouldn't let me play multiple times.

Yesterday I ended up winning a $5 BP gift card that is being mailed to me.  So I guess I won a gallon of gas!  Near me gas is $4.95.  

 

Today I won the Walmart $25 gift card!  That was sent to my email within 5 minutes. 

 

Previously I had only been winning a few points if I had even won anything at all.   I just need to remember to play every day!
