mrs_patel Posted April 12, 2017 #426 Share Posted April 12, 2017 I checked your sailing (because I don't have much to do at work right now and it's what I do) and looks like everything is pretty much sold out. Your itinerary is one that I've wanted to do, so I'm sure you'll have a great time regardless! ;) Thanks! We're still in a mini-suite, so the room is still nice---but it sure would have been nice to be in that owners suite! Maybe next time. tonytone68 Posted April 16, 2017 #427 Share Posted April 16, 2017 We were in an H4 on the Escape for a 7 day E. Caribbean cruise. Got the offer to bid on H2 and H3. The minimum was $750 for either one. However, they were all listed as sold out well in advance, so I'm not sure of the point? We have a July cruise to Alaska coming up and I'm hoping to be able to bid on an upgrade there, too. However, it too is showing everything above us a sold out. Once you are in the Haven, I doubt ever going back. In fact, we have only been in suites on NCL (the original one was accidental---we had a 2 week cruise tour booked, then my son was accepted to grad school and we only had 1 week to vacation, so our TA used the total 2 week cruise price to get a Haven suite.), which has really spoiled us for other lines!Good luck with your bidding! Thanks for your response. We will only sail the Haven now that we've experienced it. There's only 2 of us and so I'm happy with our H5 on the Pearl in November. I like the Haven Penthouses on the the Epic and the Getaway that are outside of the Haven itself as I remember them being larger. If I get an offer, I may bid just to bid but I'm not going to hold my breath. Since it seems it's just the luck of the draw whether you win or lose the bid, I know that I will not be worrying about my bid during the Thanksgiving holiday! Cheers! The Vees Posted April 16, 2017 #428 Share Posted April 16, 2017 Good morning, We sailing on the Norwegian Getaway in T-minus 10 hours!!!! We are very excited about this kid-free "Getaway"!!! We officially received and email for an upgrade February 8, 2017. We were originally booked for a Mid-Ship Mini Suite with a balcony on Deck 13. We put in the very minimum bid of $400 pp for the H5 Courtyard Penthouse Haven Suite, and $450 for the H7 Forward Penthouse Haven Suite. We modified our bid for the H5 on March 10 to $500, and the H7 to $600 pp. On April 10 we modified out bid for the H5 to $760 pp; cancelled the H7 bid and submitted a new big for the H9 the Haven Penthouse Spa Suite to $450. On April 13, 2017, we received an email saying that we got our bid on the H5 Courtyard Penthouse Haven Suite!!!!! I hope this helps anyone out with their future bids!!! Happy Cruising!!!!!!!!! Rare Clay Clayton Posted April 17, 2017 #435 Share Posted April 17, 2017 Bid $100 pp for inside to balcony on Gem 4/18/17. Didn't get it. Not mad about it, but not sure the new system is very fair. Folks who purchased insides for $600 bucks less than us last week (we booked over a year ago), got their bid of $200 accepted. So they are on a balcony for $400 less than what we paid, seems like Norwegian ought to look at the total price when reviewing bids. Oh well, still looking forward to a fun time starting TOMMOROW!!! Just remember that the program isn't designed to reward people for anything other than "who puts the most money in NCL's pocket". You bid $100pp and they bid $200pp...double what you were willing to give NCL. Of course NCL took the higher bid...who wouldn't? The total price paid doesn't matter at this point. BOTH of you already paid for your cabins. You offered to give them X more dollars, they offered to give 2X...plain and simple. Now, had the bids been the SAME the outcome might have been different. How would NCL have broken the tie? First bid in? Latitude status? Earliest original booking date? Total price paid? Past spending history? Who actually knows?? The system wasn't designed to be "fair". The system was designed to make people compete against each other to see who NCL can get to cough up the biggest check. FDR is laughing all the way to the bank on this one.

ALWAYS less than the actual cost and i always book a room I will be happy with if I dont upgrade!

Sorry about the miss on the upgrade Clay. Have a wonderful cruise anyway. Notice you are on the Gem tomorrow. I'm missing a Gem ship pin.... could you do me a favor and check to see if there are any available? Someone just on the Jade was able to get multiple pins so figure it wouldn't hurt to ask. I'd love to complete my collection before they're gone. See the "ship pins" thread for what I have to trade.
Rare mking8288 Posted April 18, 2017 #440 Share Posted April 18, 2017 UG apparently started processing GEM's next sailing early @ 11 days out - we have 2 staterooms bidding submitted, while prices for last minute, new booking continued to get lowered. Both OV & I/S below $500 p/p (w/o perks) and special rate for solo. Email came this morning, bid for Balcony still pending (CAS rates originally booked), one bid "expired" for another "B" but accepted for the "OV" at 50 p/p x 2 @ 100 total. Waiting for the email confirmation, signed into MyNCL earlier but details not yet updated (IA on deck 10 booked >>> ???) Others in the Roll Call bidding so it should be interesting - stay tuned. spanishguy1970 Posted April 18, 2017 #442 Share Posted April 18, 2017 I wonder if we will get that upgrade bid email?. We are currently booked on a 20 day cruise on the Epic on October 29. One is a 7 day cruise, and the other is a 13 day cruise, back to back. My thoughts are we wont, and even if we do it would probably be one of those things that we would have to move staterooms for one of the cruises. :loudcry:
DebQ5 Posted April 19, 2017 #443 Share Posted April 19, 2017 I just received my upgrade offer on my NCL home page today. I'm 31 days out from my cruise to Alaska on the Jewel. I only bid on two upgrades, Haven Owners Suite and Haven 2 bedroom and bid very minimally on both as I had previously hand picked my cabin and will not be upset to stay in it! I'll keep you posted! Son of a son of a ... Posted April 19, 2017 #444 Share Posted April 19, 2017 40 days out from Pearl cruise and received bid options for 3 BR Haven and OS. I checked the NCL site and could not book these cabins directly. In fact, these cabins have been sold out for a while. Did the TAs turnover their blocks? PS - the minimum on a Haven 1 BR is $1k pp - not that good of a deal.

moosec1 Posted April 20, 2017 #446 Share Posted April 20, 2017 I received the upgrade offer for June Getaway sailing. We are currently in aft balcony. Besides haven, can also put in a bid on mini-suite. But the only mini-suite costing more than the aft balcony is the aft mini. If I bid on the mini might I end up with a mini-suite that is cheaper than what I paid for aft balcony? Sure would not want to put an offer in and down grade myself! Cannot find an answer to this! Thanks for any info
CCcruiser3366 Posted April 20, 2017 #447 Share Posted April 20, 2017 Received the upgrade offer for our June Alaska cruise on the Pearl. 69 days out. Currently booked on an outside ocean view window (OA) that we were given through a casino's at sea promotion. Decided to make an offer on the Balcony category as the mini-suite doesn't seem that much better for the extra $$. Hoping my mid-good bid is accepted. I may be tempted to go back and increase my bid before the end of May.
mamasylvia Posted April 20, 2017 #448 Share Posted April 20, 2017 Just today received the offer to bid for our 5/21 Pearl Alaska cruise. But the minimum bid for a 2-bedroom family suite (the smallest one that it would be worth it to me to upgrade) is $750pp, and I simply can't justify that even knowing that a minimum bid is very unlikely to succeed. I'll watch and see if the minimum bid drops but I'm not holding my breath.

Thanks for any info While we enjoyed being in a mini suite (a free upgrade from a balcony), we would have felt cheated if we had Paid more. The word "suite" should not be attached to the name of this cabin. In truth it is "balcony with a bath". Stick with what you have got!
