Much smoke detected on Deck 8 verandas?

Non-smokers on Crystal Serenity for the first time wondering if we will detect much smoke being our B1 verandah is only one Deck up from the promenade. Is smoking restricted to port side only? Atlas just refers to promenade as a whole regarding smoking. We can choose 8049 or 8050 which are about half way between the exit doors on deck 7. Aft verandas available on Deck 8 also, but was thinking there might be noise from the shuffleboard. This is a Caribbean itinerary out of Fort Lauderdale. Any replies are most appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Paul, smoking is not restricted to one side but I see very few smokers on the Promenade Deck. That is because there are very few places to sit.

Our friend were just on board with us on a January Caribbean Cruise and do not care for smoke at all. They were on Deck 8 and had no issues with smoke when they were out on their verandah.

I would go with either side.

Port Side by the Seahorse pool smoking is permitted. I hardly ever see anyone smoking on the promenade deck...and to "Expand" smoking is permitted on the outside aft decks not cabins or verandas and of course the connoisseur lounge where they sell cigars.

Smoking is allowed on the aft covered decks (unless the policy has been recently changed). We have been in 10123 & 10125, which is as far aft as you can get on Deck 10. We never experienced second-hand smoke while on the balcony in those rooms, but not too many smokers congregate on Deck 10 aft since there is limited cover on that deck.

We have friends that were in 8147, as far back as you can get on Deck 8. Depending on the direction of the wind, they did smell second hand smoke on their balcony on occasion. There are often several smokers on Deck 8 aft since this deck has a relatively large roof cover and quite a bit of outdoor furniture. Their biggest complaint with that room location was the loud banging of the corridor door leading out to the aft deck whenever people entered and exited.

I could be wrong. It wouldn't be the first time.

Before I answered I looked at Reflections from my January cruise and it said the following.

Cigarette smoking

Decks 11,10,9 & Aft,

Seahorse pool areas, port side only

Promenade Deck

Since it does not say Promenade Deck port side only I interpreted this as both sides. If it is restricted to port side only it was not "crystal" clear to me in the Reflections. As I said, I could be wrong but just posted what it said.

I walked the promenade deck yesterday and saw a couple of ashtrays on the port side.

So Reality versus Reflections versus one of Crystals websites - which is correct?

Gee we haven't had a smoking thread for so long...

It's about as 'Crystal Clear' as anything else is these days!!!! I was looking at something earlier today but gave it up as a bad job due to the conflicting info currently on the websites, and what was there previously.

Paul - it's a good one to raise - as you can see things are as clear as mud amongst the Crystal regulars (albeit all non smokers I think)

We were in an act balcony one and never smelt any smoke from the rear - but nowadays we like to be forward with the wind and spray in our face :D - any smoke doesn't stand a chance there

On Symphony, it's definitely one side, and I want to agree it's port, because those are the exhaust vents overhead and not intakes. Those of us who walk circuits on the Promenade know what side you get the various smells (positive or negative) and warmer/cooler (again, positive or negative depending on the climate) blown towards you on. :o

I have far less experience with verandas than window cabins, but the several verandas I've had on Deck 8 so far, I haven't smelled any second hand smoke from below, even on the port side. Just one data point.
