littlemeagain Posted February 18, 2017 #1 Share Posted February 18, 2017 Back in November, I received a certificate from Foxwoods Resort for a complimentary Celebrity cruise. The certificate states that you must reserve by February 19, 2017 and sail by November 19, 2017. Above this, it says to book your cruise, please call Monday through Friday from 9AM to 7PM EST. This certificate cannot be redeemed in any other way. I didn't realize that the deadline fell on a Sunday and the casino reps are not in. This is my first Celebrity cruise. I don't know what I should do?

Otherwise call Monday morning.
Karynanne Posted February 18, 2017 #3 Share Posted February 18, 2017 I would call Celebrity, and tell them your issue. Book a cabin, but have the representative make notes, that this is a casino booking. Then on Monday, contact the Casino booking dept. and straighten everything out. easyboy Posted February 18, 2017 #4 Share Posted February 18, 2017 You can call Celebrity and request for assistance on the matter.
cruise47 Posted February 18, 2017 #5 Share Posted February 18, 2017 Great suggestions I will do both: called Celebrity and placed a hold on cabin and leave a voice message with the resort . Plus, I would fax your request directly to the resort. The fax receipt is then your paper trait . Good luck.
dkjretired Posted February 18, 2017 #6 Share Posted February 18, 2017 Celebrity really has nothing to do with this, the number you were supposed to call is most likely a travel agent. Celebrity is going to tell you they can't help you. I have had dealings with something similar three times through Harrah's (now Caesars). Quite frankly, you are probably out of luck with this cruise

It will not be refunded in full if you decide not to go because you missed the deal. In fact, I think it unlikely you will even be eligible if you book direct with Celebrity. It was through the Blue Chip Club which is the casino division of Celebrity not a separate travel agency. Now while it is true that the regular reservations staff cannot assist with anything related to the casino rate, I think the OP should follow the advice that other posters gave which is to leave a voicemail at the Blue Chip number prior to the expire date and place a hold on a cabin through the regular reservations number then follow up with Blue Chip. OP should not mention anything related to the casino offer to the regular reservations staff as it won't matter to them. OP should note that Monday is a holiday so they likely won't be open again until Tuesday. This still might not work but OP should at least try. He/she should make sure that deposit is refundable when reserving though in case Blue Chip won't honor the offer.
littlemeagain Posted February 18, 2017 Author #9 Share Posted February 18, 2017 Thanks everyone! I did in fact book a cabin without a deposit. The rep I spoke to said to do it that way. When I call the Celebrity casino # on the certificate it says on the recording that you can leave a voice mail (but the mailbox is full) or send an email (the email was not deliverable). At least I have a booking # and a sail date booked before the deadline. She thought that they will be in on Monday (presidents day). So I will try. There is no penalty if I cancel. I have 2 upcoming cruises on NCL and one on RCCL before this Celebrity cruise. I have learned a lesson about waiting until the last minute. Hopefully it will work out. (Fingers crossed!) Today is my birthday so I feel lucky! :) BTW- The certificate is from Celebrity, not a travel agency.

I agree with you now that he says the certificate is from Celebrity and not the casino itself. There are a couple of ways they do these cruises, some the certificates like the Blue Chip come from Celebrity others come from the casino. WonderMan3 Posted February 19, 2017 #11 Share Posted February 19, 2017 I agree with you now that he says the certificate is from Celebrity and not the casino itself. There are a couple of ways they do these cruises, some the certificates like the Blue Chip come from Celebrity others come from the casino. It is a combination. Celebrity manages the booking but the offer is derived from your play at the land-based casino. Once onboard your play will be transmitted back to the land-based casino (in this case Foxwoods) and will contribute to your rating there. Your play does not contribute to your rating with the Blue Chip Club as you are classified as a land-based casino guest. This was straight from the mouth of the Blue Chip rep who was at Foxwoods coordinating these offers. I am a member of Blue Chip already and was not allowed to apply any earned casino incentives from prior Celebrity cruises towards this casino cruise nor will I earn any casino incentives from this casino cruise to use towards a future Celebrity cruise. Captain's Club and suite level benefits still apply though and you earn Captain's Club points as you would on any other Celebrity cruise.

WonderMan3 Posted February 21, 2017 #14 Share Posted February 21, 2017 Congrats! I always say take and shot and see what you get and ignore the gloomy gusses telling you to just give up and not bother. Hope you have a great cruise!
