Gypsywych Posted March 1, 2017 Author #26 Share Posted March 1, 2017 Thanks for the info! We are on the Vista in April. Kicking myself for not booking a Havana balcony! We are in a cove balcony, which I love. Seeing the Havana pool area is what makes me want the Havana! So, that area is open to everyone after 7;00, correct?? Just wondering if its very crowded after 7?? The first 3 nights, it was dead. I think everyone was out discovering all the other things that Vista has to offer. We used the hot tubs one evening for about an hour and only saw the bartender. The last two nights we wandered through after dinner and it was busier inside and out. Not crowded, but busier. A very nice change from the madness of the Lido and the Tides pools.
doe326 Posted March 1, 2017 #27 Share Posted March 1, 2017 We cruised the week before you with ports of Grand Turk, Dominican Republic, Bonaire and Aruba. I agree with most of what you said. Not impressed with the food in the dining room. Our service in the dining room was terrible. Received my appetizer long after my soggy Caesar salad. Received my sour cream long after my baked potato went cold. At least on Lido I could get a fresh salad and a hot baked potato. Waiters seemed harried and my hubby and our friends did get coffee after they ate their desert. Waiters didn't seem to comprehend serving food and drink together. We mostly ate on Lido because of the shows we wanted to see. Lines to the Comedy Club were unbelievable long. We never did get to one. The Liquid Lounge is a terrible venue. We arrived late one night (long, long time in dining room). Saw some seats and started for them only to realize we would be behind giant columns. A lot of empty seats due to the placement of the columns. Other cruise lines have solved this problem. Don't understand why Carnival can't. One show we changed our seats three times because of the bad views. We also had a Havana room. It was suite and it was well appointed and the decor was very nice. Reminiscent of pictures of old Havana. Loved, loved the two sinks in the bathroom and a shower with a seat and NO shower curtain to wrap around you. We had two areas: the bedroom and living area. They were divided by shutters and drapes. Never felt closed in. One complaint, whoever designed the sofa with a lounge end and put it opposite the desk didn't think it out. When the desk chair was out you could not get around it. Either had to get up and put chair in or climb over the lounge. I loved the swinging chair. The balcony was a nice size but I did miss not being able to sit on the balcony and look out to the sea. Pool area was very nice and the bar personnel were friendly and service was good. We did enjoy the cruise and the ports but will probably not be taking another cruise on Carnival for awhile.

Froufie Posted March 1, 2017 #30 Share Posted March 1, 2017 Was on the same cruise in a COVE BALCONY and loved it - I cruise for the ocean and spent lots of time sitting out gazing at the horizon - no need to fight for chairs on lido deck either when I had my own private view - and yes very private as I could sit out there in my jammies in the morning with coffee/breakfast or evening time to see the stars and listen to the waves! Had the guy's burger, pig and anchor - all yummy - and we had traditional dining with an excellent wait staff - no issues getting coffee or tea after dinner....also enjoyed some great tablemates and good conversations :) Yes the Liquid Lounge sucks but I already knew that before getting on the ship as it was the same on the Sunshine - worst part is I believe they are repeating this 'multi purpose' room on the Horizon :( As for the comedy club we just arrived a few minutes before the show - when the line has dispersed and had not trouble getting a couple of seats - again some of the sight lines are blocked by pillars so choose carefully! Made some donations to the Casino which I found to be super smoky - YUCK - but my son did well winning over $1500 by the end of the cruise....and treated us to dinner at jiji's which was excellent as well! We did not do the skyride but the boys waited in line and did it - saying it was scarier than it looked LOL... While I also miss the tablecloths I did find the MDR food to be mostly very good - and if not Maja was always there to ask if we wanted anything else to eat....never went hungry LOL (and now working off that last pound of the 3.5 I gained!)...... Wish I was still onboard LOL :D

Barbluvstocruz Posted March 2, 2017 #42 Share Posted March 2, 2017 Hi! We were on this cruise too and had a great time! I traveled with my husband and two boys (10 & 11). Pwppaul - the Platinum/Diamond party was at 4:30 on the last Sea Day. I'm guessing that is what you are refering too. My boys did the Sky ride and loved it! We were up there playing golf the afternoon that we were in Cozumel. They were fixing one of the bikes and we waited while they did it and the kids jumped in line and were the 2nd ones on. We had early dining in the MDR. The food was good. The service was slow. We never could figure it out. We didn't let it get to us, but it's hard to wait so long with kids. Hubby and the boys saw Lego: Batman in the IMAX on the last sea day. They said it's a full size theater and really enjoyed it. The Arcade is next to the theater. The kids spend a bit of money there. I gave them a certain amount to spend so they wouldn't go nuts. We loved Matt! Flick and America Rocks were great! Those were the only 2 we went to see. Get there early to get a good seat. We never made it to a comedy show. A lot has already been covered. That's my 2 cents to add. :)
saharaga Posted March 3, 2017 #43 Share Posted March 3, 2017 If you have any pics of the Imax theater area, the hallway to the entrance, etc., that would be great. Can't wait until it's our turn. Still a ways off yet - August here we come! Here you go. I'm still downloading pictures. If I find more pics of the Imax theater, I will add them. For the life of me, I can't figure out how to embed pictures in the thread.

We have Havana suite booked for next year, and my biggest question is, how noisy is it from the Havana Bar late night when the bands are playing? Seago2 Posted March 4, 2017 #46 Share Posted March 4, 2017 Thank you so much for your review! I have to agree with you about the tablecloths. Take the chocolates, make the room up once a day- these things don't bother me. But the lack of tablecloths really bothers me. For one thing, you would think the plates would be sliding all over in rough weather. Oh well, nothing we can do about it. :(

Gypsywych Posted March 4, 2017 Author #49 Share Posted March 4, 2017 When did they stop serving Shrimp Cocktail just had it on our last cruise Fascination November 2016?? They took it completely off the menu a couple of years ago, but so many people complained, they put it back on and now have it available every night. That's what I meant about if enough people speak up, things can change.
