Free drinks in casino?

we will be going on our first Princess cruise in May. Trying to decide whether or not to purchase the AIBP. Other cruise lines offer free drinks in the casino when gambling and I was wondering about Princess. We will be on the Grand. While I'm at it... any general feedback about the casino?

Do not depend on casino for free drinks. Some pit bosses might buy you one occasionally, but very hit and miss. Not like Carnival where you get one pretty easily. There is no rhyme or reason on Princess unless you are on a casino cruise.

If you gamble a lot they may offer you some free drinks. Last cruise on Regal I had the casino VIP card. All drinks were free. Mostly play penny slots onboard, so not really sure why I got it.

As I was cashing out they offered to buy my wife a drink last night and she hasn't gambled a penny in years.

Maybe they confused her with someone else?

In 2011 I was a heavy gambler. Won $25,000 on a slot machine first night of the cruise on Star Princess.

Most nights when I came in the Casino Host grabbed me a drink.

In general, find the casino host and make it known to him you plan on spending a lot of time gambling. Once he or she knows you you'll get occasional free drinks here and there.

That's great! Which machine did you win on?

Thank you for the responses. I did book this cruise with certificate from a Las Vegas casino. Who knows... that may make a difference... will have to wait and see I guess. Will probably go ahead and get the beverage pkg. we are going on another Princess cruise in October so I will use this cruise to decide what to do on the next one:D

Yup. Don't count on free drinks in the casino. I have the same free cruise from Sands/venetian coming up. My guess is that no one in casino will even have a clue I am there because of my gambling habits.

One of my issues with Ocean Players Club ( who manage Princess and Carnival casinos) is that there is no real loyalty program like on land casinos. You are starting off "fresh" with each cruise. Your cumulative play doesn't seem to matter.

I have gotten casino cash for future cruises and free cruises from Princess AND sometimes a casino discount for cruise fare of about 35%. But, it never feels coordinated in any way.

It was a 15 a spin machine. Hit three 7's.

Staff told me the jackpot would hit like once every six months or so ... I was incredibly lucky.

Certificate? Yeah they (the casino) knows who you "are" then. I'm assuming you been rated and that been confirmed by casino. That may make a difference in perks/drinks offered.

Edit: after I won 25gs in the casino i played another 4k - 6k on slots over the rest of the 9 days.

I got offers from casino for 3 years after that for discounted casino cruises +. Free casino cash ranging from 375 to 500

Princess has a Happy Hour every afternoon, usually around 3:00 or 4:00 for about an hour or two, it will be listed in the Patter, with a buy one drink, get one for $1, they have to be the same drink though.

I used to spend quite a bit of time and $$ in the ship's casino playing Video Poker, and the only times I was offered a free drink were the times when I hit royal flushes. Since those are not common events, I'd say I got a free drink maybe 5 or six times over 10 years+.

Unless you are a BIG gambler, you won't get "free" drinks......

You'll get many more free drinks if you ask - nicely, of course - than if you don't ask. Get to know the hosts and say hello to them whenever you're playing in the casino. Remember that it's part of their job to make you happy and comfortable. Unless they suspect that you're trying to take advantage of them, they're unlikely to say no. I've found that a good approach is to ask the host to buy a round for the table.

This. The most important thing is to introduce yourself to the casino host the first night, and say hi every time you come in.

My husband and I are Elite on Princess and we play in the casino most nights because we have see the production shows on past cruises. We play table games and only bet the minimum (5$) We have only been offered a drink one time. On the other hand when I was on Carnival with my sister we were offered drinks nightly after the second night.

Maybe once you earn at least a few thousand points, but it's not the norm. One time, a casino host bought my in-laws, DH, and I each a drink, but it was just to celebrate my mom-in-law's birthday and because we were some of the only people in the casino that cruise. Another cruise, they offered a promo where you earned a free drink of choice every few hundred points. They seem to periodically test incentives.

My DH on a Princess Cruise in Nov, 2016. Must admit I do spend a great deal of time in the Casino. This was a 19 day cruise. On the first night after playing for a few hours I inquired about the VIP, Club 21 and if I could get a drink and was told that they don't do that here. (My previous cruise was on Holland, Club 21 ---free drinks)

I had a Casino comp from Ocean Players club for $300.

By the 3rd night, I couldn't buy a drink. I'm not a big drinker, all I wanted mostly was bottle water. Holland spoiled me. When I entered the Casino Holland ALWAYS brought me a bottle of water without asking.

I ALWAYS spoke and engaged the casino staff, ( as I do with anyone) and by the 3rd night on Princess, I couldn't buy a drink. Goldfada and cb at sea are correct. The Casino staff offered me a drink every night after the 3rd night. I didn't abuse, maybe 5 drinks on that 19 day cruise and a bottle or 2 of water each night. 2 Specialty Dinner's and a bottles of wine with each dinner.

I hit 2 jackpots and my DH hit one. We were given a free cruise with money to play.

We are taking advantage of that free cruise next month and will see if the casino staff is a nice as they were on our previous cruise.

Whenever you have been rated, THEY KNOW YOU ARE THERE.

We play tables all the time and get offered drinks when the table and casino are not real busy even though we only bet the minimum. I think it is because we are low drama and we ALWAYS tip and regularly place small side bets for the dealer. The pit bosses share in those tips and they remember who does and does not tip.

To me it's "hit or miss".

Some cruises they give so many free drinks

and other cruises lucky if get one.

Earlier cruises always gave free drinks now

they seem to cut down. Don't know if because

they give out the casino cruises and one of

perks if you book is free drinks all the time

while your in the casino.

On Carnival Vista now. Got a free drink card on the 2nd day. Have had about six free drinks in the last 4 days. And I spend 3-4 hours in the casino nightly. Why? Too few servers who take, on average, 20 minutes to deliver your drink. Ridiculous.

Which cruise lines give free drinks in the casino??

We have cruised on NCL, HAL, Oceania, RCI. None of those give free drinks in the casino unless the pit boss offers one occasionally.

The only time we had free drinks in the casino was as part of an NCL Casinos at Sea booking offer and we were given a special card that entitled us to free drinks in the casino.
