cruisesusie Posted March 11, 2017 #1 Share Posted March 11, 2017 We will be visiting Corsica in Sept., 2018. Does anyone know if its a port to do on your own or will we need a guide. We much prefer private guides to ship's tours. Thanks, Susan

CrewLady Posted March 12, 2017 #4 Share Posted March 12, 2017 You can definitely do Corsica on your own. Even around the port area the is plenty to see and do. Beware that like mainland France a lot of stuff will be closed if you happen to visit on a Monday. There's more info in my crew member blog http://www.downtokokomo.wordpress.com Bon voyagé! prish Posted March 13, 2017 #6 Share Posted March 13, 2017 The little town of Ajaccio is quite interesting to walk around, we visited the Napoleon museum and the church where he was baptised. There was a small local market the day we were in port with lots of local produce, including their famous fig jam/jelly. We also did the bus tour offered from the port, it takes you around Ajaccio and then along the road Sanguinaires, about 50-55 mins. There's also a tour which takes you to the island itself, but this wasn't running when we were there last May. Yes, there is free wifi but the signal was very poor with so many cruisers in town:D http://www.ajacciovision.fr/
