John Blair leaves Independence today and then is headed to Liberty.

Thanks for the update, especially as for some reason, I cannot see these posts while I am on FB.

I really don't understand why they would give him one of their largest ships though. At least he won't be with us on Harmony!

EDIT: Liberty sails on Sundays. May 20th is a Saturday, July 20th is a Thursday. I'll put the dates down just now as it is the only source I have, but would seem odd for a switchover mid cruise.

John has been on Liberty another time in the last few months. Not the first time for him and Galveston.

Chrome Diva asked about Hotel Director -

(I will be on Jewel after the TA.)

When I was in correspondence with Diego, CL Concierge he wrote me in a reply to one of my questions there would probably be a new Hotel Director and Cruise Director beginning with the TA from the Caribbean season.

Lol about John Blair's dates. I shared his post from FB. Been on LB 4x this year.

Did you enjoy Liberty?

Would love to sail her, if it wasn't for the CD situation and the fact that Galveston isn't very accessible for me.

Liberty is great! Folks have come up with multiple ways to travel to and from the airports in Houston to Galveston. As far as I'm concerned, it's no different than flying to Orlando to get to Port Canaveral or from Newark to Cspe Liberty.

This is total speculation but I'm wondering (and hoping) if Michele Scarpato will be on Freedom through the last Ft. Lauderdale sailing (4/15-4/23)?

Nothing against Mercedes but we have somehow always had female Cruise Directors (who have always been lovely) and I was looking forward to having a male. Right after our sailing from 4/15-4/23, Freedom is leaving for a 14 night transatlantic journey.

Do they typically change CD's when itineraries change? Or is it completely at random? My gut tells me they would want to keep the CD and change when the itinerary changes but I know RCI doesn't tend to do anything that makes sense. ;p Any information or past experience would be helpful!

The CD schedule is independent of the itinerary change. I believe it's typically 4 months on and 2 months off.

Thanks Bob! Helpful as always! :D

I guess we will just wait and see. If we don't have confirmation by the time we sail, I'll update this thread so others know the change of CD's has officially been made (or not made for that matter).

Thanks everybody!

SheehanDJ - Ken Rush has been in Miami since July. I'm sure it will be fine though as lots seem to like Abe (who is rumoured to take over Symphony!)

We enjoyed Abe on the Harmony TA...very personable and his morning shows were good fun! (y)

We are on this sailing as well, anyone know who it will be?

We are new to the game, so what are the benefits / cons to either Mercedes and Michele?

Sent from my SM-G930V using Forums mobile app

Will be on Freedome mid May so very interested in knowing what they are like too. Are both of them women? Sorry for my name ignorance.

I would imagine Mercedes would take over either at the start of the TA or when FR arrives in Barcelona.

Michele is a guy from Naples, Italy. Promoted last year from being Activities Manager on Allure for a year and the take out AM of Harmony.

Feedback about Michele is better than Mercedes on the whole, but I have heard very little about Mercedes recently and she hasn't been on a ship since October, so unsure about her.

She has been CD for about 7 years though.

We don't have any experience with them either - I'm hoping others chime in! Michele is a male and Mercedes is a female however. :D I believe both are fluent in Spanish, English and Italian and are fairly new-ish CD's.

Need an update for NV - tried to ask on a live thread and the poster was unhelpful, so can anyone else find out.

Also, does anyone have an update on MR. This may be harder to get as she is in Asia, but any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!
