Drinks on us casino rules

Recommended Posts

Honestly it depends on how you earned your DOU card. If you had 5000 points on a previous cruise then the rules are 15 limit, only while playing.

Elite cruise, which I have not done, your card works just like the Cheers program, anywhere on the ship

If you have a DOU card because you are sailing a Ultra Cruise they are more lenient. You still must be in the casino and still have a limit but can get a drink at the casino bar.

Premier cruises are usually somewhere in between. It depends on the ship and hosts. May or may not be able to get a drink at the bar.

This has been my experience with DOU cards. I am sure others may have had different experiences and will add their information.

Be sure to bring your email or note saying you qualified. Last cruise my mom was told she qualified but when she went they told her no. I had to show them the email from the casino showing they said she did. She only drinks soda with a mixed drink maybe once a day so she wasn't that worried but it was more the principal.

But my sister and mom have found that those were only good in the casino area :)

My experience were based on how well I tipped the team in the casino. Although I was only able to drink while playing, they would recognize me when I walked in, have a drink on the way and I could play for a few minutes then leave. If you take of them, they will take care of you.

On 7 day or shorter cruises I seldom qualify for enough points for DOU. But who cares. On a 15 day cruise to Hawaii, I qualified around day 6. But, I seldom saw a server to order a drink from. I tried going to the bar, but nope, you had to be playing at a machine. I think I managed to get 1 free drink the other 10 days of my cruise. I was not impressed with DOU. They can keep it.

Ever do the math on what the DOU card costs .. It's much more than cheers

We come out ahead $$ quite often in the casino so it's not always more than cheers

Plus I'm going to be gambling no matter what so at least the DOU card perk can help take the sting out of the times I'm not winning 😝😝🍹🍹😜😜

You guys are having a much better experience than I am.

I sail 3-4 times a year, I'm Diamond and the 1st problem I have with drinks in the casino is the amount of time it takes to get served. I always cash tip with each drink, but at least until after 11pm it can take 20 minutes or more to get a drink. I'm not going to spend 20 minutes at a machine waiting on a "free" $8.95 drink.

But, as of 2 years ago on every ship I've been on, I've been told that all drinks ordered under the DOU promotion count against your Cheers 15 drink limit. The receipt use to come up Players Club, but now it doesn't it just showed Cheers. I even questioned it and they told me that if you have Cheers they have to ring it up under that promotion.

I don't chase points anymore, for any reason. Though I gamble enough just within my regular pattern to get more than 5000 points, it's just my form of entertainment. It's nice when I get a free cruise (2x) or a Bounce Back offer (which doesn't generally happen if you already have a future cruise booked). And I'll be leaving on a Premier Casino cruise on 9/2 and those are a nice perk.

The DOU card is useless if you have Cheers. I always qualify for it but when they try and give it to me I just tell them I have Cheers and they just say "you don't need this then". Then they always have to remind me how you use to be able to get those 15 on top of the Cheers 15.......

We tip cash for DOU and get pretty good service. Heck one of our waiters on the Fantasy last November named Ian remembered us and what we drank from when we sailed the Paradise several times last year. He said we were nice, didn't yell at him and tipped good.

anyone who says this, always raises an eyebrow "We come out ahead $$ quite often in the casino so it's not always more than cheers"

NO ONE comes out ahead quite often, it's called gambling. Like the fisherman who talks about the size of their catch????????????????
