I've done quite a bit of cruising, but never to any of these ports. I know everyone has personal fav's so any guidance would be appreciated.

2 of us ladies......early 60's but we like to have fun, not the sedate type.

Our options are

Roatan, Puerto Costa Maya, Cozumel OR Cozumel, Georgetown, GC, Falmouth, Jamaica.

Thoughts?

Hi Beth!

We’ve done both, except for Falmouth, and both are great, for fun we would choose the latter with Grand Cayman and Jamaica.

Cozumel is a great port where you can choose from great excursions to visit the Mayan ruins and beautiful cenotes on the Yucatan, experience amazing snorkel or even dive sites along the Palancar Reef off Coz, or just hit a nice beach on Coz and lime. We have a place near Playa Del Carmen and like to go to Coz and rent a car and see the island, the east coast is beautiful.

Grand Cayman also offers gorgeous beaches and a fun option in the water with the stingray sandbar if you haven’t done that. We would look at Fat Fish Adventures and their jet ski excursion, just an excellent day and really fun and a more personal day than most of the larger group tours.

We’ve not cruised to Falmouth, but we’ve stayed on Jamaica and experienced the areas from Negril to Ocho Rios and again, gorgeous beaches and other options.

We like Roatan for the beaches and snorkeling, and Costa Maya can be a good port to rent a golf cart and drive to a beach resort south of the busy area. But I think GC and Jamaica would be the better itinerary for a fun experience.

If you are interested in a full-day excursion when in port at Coz there are a few excellent options south of Playa Del Carmen, you would ferry to Playa and ride 10 - 30 minutes depending on the excursion you chose. The cenote and jungle tour at Rio Secreto is very popular, or you can go to the Mayan ruins of Tulum or one of the natural water "parks like Xcaret. If looking for a more relaxed day there are beautiful beaches right on Coz, and you can also find great island tours that include a beach stop. These are all available through independent operators as well. Of course you will find many ideas on the individual forums, as well as your roll call forum.

Great itinerary, enjoy yourselves!
