Is there a discount? Yes, no, maybe. All depends on if a sale is in progress, and the sale involved. Most of the time the cruises on sale we have seen on board don't fit our planning time line, but that may vary for you.

Is the deposit refundable? Up to final payment, yes.

Now if you are asking about Future Cruise Deposits, they are fully refundable if not used. And they allow you to discount the amount that is normally required, but not usually reduce the price.

The Future Cruise Credit is refundable, automatically after four years. There are no discounts, but some cruises have OBCs.

Future Cruise Deposits offer reduced deposits and OBC on all cruises. Also, you normally receive and email from HAL soon after your cruise offering to double the OBC if you book within 60 days (promo code ZPM).

The OBC varies based upon the category you book and the lenght of the cruise.

We booked a 2017 21 day Panama Canal cruise while on board the Oosterdam in Dec 2016. We got $100 deposits, and double OBC, which was $800 for the 2 of us. After we got home, we transferred the cruise to our TA. Then,we found another cruise that would work better, 25 days Med/TA. Our TA switched us, we kept the double OBC of $800, got pre-paid HSC, and a Pinnacle Grill lunch & dinner. We are extremely happy with the onboard booking process, and you do get lots of benefits. Because we booked an actual cruise, not just a future cruise deposit, we can cancel anytime before final payment with full refund.

Can you transfer those doubled OBC's obtained through the ZPM, if you change your mind and choose another cruise if you have not purchased a FCD? I understand that this can be done if the original booking was on board with an FCD.

I have gotten this done using an FCD, but I think it depends on your TA or PCC whether or not it can be done.

We booked the 2018 20 day VOV while on NA last month. Our base fare for a Signature Suite on deck 6 (Zuiderdam) was $5549pp. HAL's website lists the same cruise right now for $7299pp. I'm not sure how we got such a good deal or if the price just shot up in the past few weeks? (Not to mention, we also picked up OBC for booking on board.)

If you want discounts...you apparently need to gamble. We recently booked the Aug. 15th Westerdam itinerary from Rome to Venice. My brother and his wife paid $1,250 LESS than myself and another brother due to a casino discount tied to their Mariner number. What a HUGE discount. Then, when pricing a Panama Canal cruise for next year, two brothers would pay almost $400 per person less than myself and another brother. So my advice is to start gambling when on board. And the interesting thing is...they do no gamble very often during the cruise. Not very happy about this.

While on The Eurodam in The Med this past September we booked our 28 day round trip from San Diego our home to South America. We paid our deposit of $600.00 for both of us. What we received in a sale/special,

$500.00 pp OBC

All gratuities paid

Explorer 4 package

Pinnicale Grill

200 minutes Wifi

Laundry service

Our price total for cruise is 15,300.00

Right now our cruise for 2/25/2018 is now over $18,500..00 and it only has paid gratuities and the OBC of a lot less.

We have a veranda suite not a Neptune suite.

So for us we got a sale onboard.

Sometimes you luck out.

Denise :)
