Booking on board under the old program

We have a 7 day booked with the $100 credit on a past guest rate that we need to cancel and hopefully transfer. Has anyone done this since the new program started on the 8th and still been able to keep the credit? I know going forward it is only Early Saver and $50 but am not sure if existing bookings are grandfathered and can still be transferred while keeping the credit.

That's a good question. We were able to move our Vista cruise in 2018 to another date and different embarkation port when we learned that the ship was moving to Galveston in Sept 2018. Since we had booked it onboard using PG rate, it didn't cost extra to move it and we kept the $100 OBC for booking onboard. Now...well not sure how this will play out. Here's what you could try: call the Carnival 800 number five different times over a period of several days and talk to five different reps. Then go back and take the best 3 out of 5 answers. Good luck. ...Oh, and come back here and let us know what you found out!

Carnival, in the past, has been very good about grandfathering in previous programs.

You are right. We had a cruise we needed to change and I was able to update to a different week and different ship and keep the $100 obc for a 7 day cruise. It had been booked on board using past guest. Separately, we used the new program more than 14 days after embarkation but less than 14 days after disembarkation and got the $50 obc. Of course it was ES but on both bookings the ES for recent cruisers was less than the regular ES plus a 2 category upgrade. So this turned out to be a nice WIN-Win for us. Also did not have to spend time on board doing any of this. If you can do ES this is something to look out for. The offer appears when you enter your VIPF number on the Carnival website.
