Transatlantic Tom Posted November 29, 2005 #1 Posted November 29, 2005 It looks as if those of us who enjoy crosssing the North Atlantic aboard QE2 will have two chances to do so in 2007: first, in January, as the lead-in to the World Cruise, and then again in April as she finishes up her trek around the globe. Has anyone noticed that depending upon which side of the Atlantic you are on (and therefore which Cunard website you use) you might not find one of these trips listed ??? Tom
juliecat Posted November 30, 2005 #2 Posted November 30, 2005 On the left side of the pond, I can find the April crossing. The prices seem to be a lot lower than the January 2006 crossing! Is that the case on the right side of the pond as well? Julia
Ab Ovo Posted November 30, 2005 #3 Posted November 30, 2005 TT, the April crossing becomes more attractive by the day! We can source prices on this coming 03 January crossing, those in cruise sales won't be able to get away! A few weeks of '07 Spring in England, then crossing the North Atlantic when it is NOT a pond! Attractive! Talk your wife into doing both: 02 January and again in April! Ab ;)

ARIZONASHOW Posted January 3, 2006 #5 Posted January 3, 2006 Hello, I have a freind who is writing an article on atlantic crossings and cruising before stablizers. If you have sailed before stablizers were in common usage or before they were perfected.. (they are aren't they?) please contact him. Here is his post to Historic Ocean Liners (yahoo group for ship buffs): "I am writing an article for a national magazine on the positive changes that roll stabilizers brought to passenger ship travel. To get the best picture of what it was like to travel on a ship without stabilizers - say in the late 1940s to 1950s - I would like to interview anyone who has had that experience. I'm especially interested those who sailed the North Atlantic in winter, and even more so those who continue to travel on modern cruise ships, most of which do have stabilizers. If you would like to participate, or know of someone else who might, please respond by email and I will set up a telephone intereview." You can contact him at: raoul1938@yahoo.com or via me at:beyondcruises@yahoo.com Thanks! Daniel Dieter Abt Tucson, AZ

Ab ;) The lead-in crossing to the World Cruise for 2007 has not posted on Cunard's website or any of the commercial travel agencies that I tried online. My TA is working on it now as I plan on taking that Winter Crossing in January 2007 and want to get the best choice of room.
