helpthejuggler Posted July 28, 2017 #3 Share Posted July 28, 2017 To answer, you would need to be clear on how you define "Best". For me, "Best" is water taxi, but it is not the cheapest option. But it is the most memorable, and for a group the cost per person is not high. Just over 100e for the group. Budget is the ATVO (not the ACTV) bus, and people mover which will be around 10e per person in total.

Budget is the ATVO (not the ACTV) bus, and people mover which will be around 10e per person in total. The ATVO bus takes you from the airport to the Piazzale Roma, the transportation hub in the city of Venice. Upon arrival at the Piazzale, you will take you luggage and make your way to the People Mover, which is in a different part of the Piazzale. The People Mover is essentially an elevated tram, and there are elevators, as well as stairs, to get to the track level. It's a short ride to the pier area, and if your ship is docked at one of the more distant piers, and you are lucky, your cruise line will offer a bus ride to your ship's gangway. My ship also had a truck waiting right where we got off the People Mover so we could drop off our luggage. IMO, it's a very well thought out and efficient system, and reasonably priced. Rare cruisemom42 Posted July 29, 2017 #5 Share Posted July 29, 2017 The water taxi option is expensive. The ATVO + People Mover option still involves a substantial amount of walking with luggage. Another option is just a regular land taxi. Cost is around $50 (for a normal sized sedan) and will get you close to the terminal with little fuss. navybankerteacher Posted July 29, 2017 #6 Share Posted July 29, 2017 If you are really interested in the "BEST" way of getting from the airport to Venice, you must be considering allowing time to spend in Venice before sailing away, as it is hard to imaging wanting to just do a drive-by. Step one is to fly in at least a day or so before sailing. Step two is to arrange a hotel in Venice proper. Step three is to arrive by water - you need not spring for an expensive water taxi, Alialuna boats run from the airport to several points. I believe it is their Blue Line which stops at San Zaccaria, very close to the lovely, reasonably priced Hotel Gabrielli Sandwirth, which is a five minute walk to San Marco. There are other options of course, but any method of going direct from the airport to the ship must be considered one of the worst rather than one of the best. Rare Hlitner Posted July 29, 2017 #8 Share Posted July 29, 2017 In terms of best and most convenient it would be to simply take a land taxi from the airport terminal to the cruise port terminal. There are other options such as shared land transfers, the Alilaguna Blu Line, private water taxis, and the ATVO bus to the Piazale Roma where you can walk to the People Mover Station. hallasm Posted July 29, 2017 #9 Share Posted July 29, 2017 If you have the time the 1 h 40 min Alilaguna water bus ride from Venice cruise terminal to the Venice Marco Polo airport IMO is the most convenient. In addition you will experience a bit more of Venice Start is next to the cruise ship pier and airport landing is a 10 minutes walk - price EUR 15pp FzrAaoU55wY
FawnRiver Posted July 30, 2017 #10 Share Posted July 30, 2017 You could also do a shared water taxi through Venicelink dot com. It's a great way to travel around Venice that's more cost effective than a private water taxi. Sent from my iPad using Forums
