ThANKS Lisa, for the news and pictures! We are sailing on Feb 18th on the Liberty, so we are interested in all the news and views!

1st Question here- WHAT TIME DID YOU GET TO THE PIER? By your first day post, the lines and hordes of people just sound like-"oh my my" . Any information would be helpful.

Have a great day!

Susan

Lisa,

If you like to travel to great places try a packtrip to the teton wilderness near Jackson, WY. You won't beat 7 days in the wilderness away from (yes) even cell phones.

OK everybody I just finished loading up a TON of photos from today's adventures. I am exhausted now, I apologize for not really annotating them all but there are over 100 photos there for you to page through. I have now gotten to every named room on the ship and have taken photos of the main dishes and menu cards so far.

Monday's notes -

http://www.lisashea.com/lisastrips/yr2005/winecruise/monday/

If you have a particular request for photos or information, please let me know. Tomorrow (Tue) is the big wine-events day so we'll be busy with wine events for most of the day. I'll check these boards when we're done with those, and that way on Thursday I'll know if there is something in particular I should go take a photo of.

In general the ship decor is *gorgeous*. I really love the tables especially, where they have embedded medallions and tiles and other designs in them. They are very elegant. Take a look even at the mural photos I took of the stairway areas. Some of those will make *beautiful* computer desktops, and these are just murals on the stairwells!!

Oh we landed at 11:50am and were out of the airport maybe 12:20pm. The taxi ride was only maybe 5-10 minutes to get to the dock and then another 10 min to circle around through traffic to drop us off. But I think it then took us 2 hrs or so to get through the MASSIVE long line and into our room. I know I'd read from other peoples' reviews that the line was huge, but it's hard to fathom it until you've been in it. I've been to Disneyland too ... :)

Lisa,

Thank you so much for your daily reviews and photos. I'll be on the next six day cruise, leaving Dec. 18, so I am very excited to hear all about your cruise and the ports. I have a couple of questions.

1. Is there a hairdryer in your room, if so where is it and how well does it work?

2. Have you learned yet if you will be having a second formal night?

Thanks! I look forward to reading tomorrow's report.

Pat

Hey Bella, first of all, you are doing a fantastic job with all the pictures....My husband and I are sailing on Liberty next Thanksgiving and I cant wait, especially now that I have seen these pictures.

We have booked a suite, Cat. 11, and I am dying to see what the balcony is like. Specifically we are in #9205. I dont imagine you can get to that room especially if its occupied but if there is any other Cat.11 open, I would love to see a picture of the balcony...

Also, what is the weather like this time of year in Freeport, Cozumel...etc.

Thanks for all your hard work!!!

BJ

Again, thanks for all your hard work and beautiful pictures. I am getting a true sense of what the ship feels like.

Could you get some spa info, photos, pricing?

Also, do the games in the kids gaming room cost $$? If so, how much?

Have never seen a live review or any review like yours that truly makes me feel like I am there.

Thank you so much!!! for taking time out of your vacation to post. Funny thing is this is not a ship I had picked for my wish list but your insightful review has definitely made me add it.

ENJOY!:D

Hey there everyone! I just finished a LONG day of wine tasting, it was pretty much non-stop. Here are the day's notes -

http://www.lisashea.com/lisastrips/yr2005/winecruise/tuesday/

Let's see about the questions. Yes, there is a hairdryer. It is "in" the drawer in the main room area, so you pull out the drawer and the hairdryer is in there. The cord goes "in" to the drawer, i.e. you don't plug it in. It's already plugged in. You have to hold down a button to keep it on, for obvious fire hazard reasons :). I will take a picture of it tomorrow for you.

I brought formal dresses for every night and really, a lot of people dress up formally each night. Even the first night many people were dressed formally. So you can easily dress formally every night and feel quite in place. So far a second night hasn't been "declared" formal yet. But really, people were ordering quite fancy wines each night that were being decanted and served. Tuxes would be quite in place on the other nights if you wanted to wear them.

I can get pictures of the balconies from above - there are spots that you can look down on the balconies. So I'll do that tomorrow. Our tablemates have a balcony room I believe so I could also ask them for a peek in there.

In Freeport the weather was very nice and clear, but to me it was HOT. Now remember that I'm from Massachusetts and there is currently 6" of snow on the ground there. I don't do well with heat :) I'm sure some people would think it quite lovely :) I'll tell you about Grand Cayman tomorrow.

I'll look into the spa for you tomorrow if I can, to see what the rates are and to get some photos. I suppose that's the one area we haven't really been to to take pictures.

Yes the video games and air hockey and such in the games room all take money. Think of it as the kiddie casino :) So the normal 25 cents or 50 cents or whatever per machine. That being said, our TV has a video / audio input right in the front of it. When we went on the Majesty to Bermuda over the summer, we packed a PS2 for the 3 teen boys. It really wasn't that heavy to carry and they LOVED hanging out in the room at night playing games and ordering room service. I highly recommend it as a way to keep the kids happy in the evening without pouring quarters into a machine.

OK so tomorrow I'm taking pictures of the spa / exercise room area and balconies. If anybody else has things they want more pictures of, please post and I will track them down for you. Tomorrow we are going to swim with the stingrays for a few hours during the day, then there is a Champagne tasting and wine dinner for the evening.

Oh I'll mention the ship movement has been VERY mild - pretty much no up-down-sideways sort of stuff, just a steady little "vibration" that you get used to quite quickly. This of course has been very important for all the wine events. I can't even imagine trying to taste wine while the ship is jostling!

As a newbie cruiser going on the Liberty in February, I am finding your reviews and photos very informative! As I recall, you had the sushi at the fish and chips counter, do you plan to check out the sushi bar? I would be curious as to the selection and quality. Thanks!

We're not going to Harry's - there are wine things going on each night that I want to keep track of in the main dining room. We are getting the same meals as everyone else there, it's just the wines that are something special for us.

Tomorrow (Thu) is listed as "formal optional" in the capers but really people are dressing formal EVERY night in many cases. Lots of gorgeous long dresses on women and many men in suits. I personally am dressing in long dresses every night :)

Here's my write-up for today (Wednesday) -

http://www.lisashea.com/lisastrips/yr2005/winecruise/wednesday/

I have a lot of photos but am exhausted and didn't annotate them all. Sorry! I'll try to do that tomorrow. If you read the diary part and then look at the pictures it flows along pretty smoothly. I did get lots of spa pictures but no balcony pictures, I'll try to get those tomorrow. We did have sushi today so that's written up.

There are several areas of the buffet so it's not one huge line. There is the buffet station nearest the pool, another further away, then all the various deli station, chinese station and the upstairs fish & chips station as well as the separate grill area and pizza area. So it really doesn't back up, that I've seen. Every day is a special feature in the buffet but that's just one area of the buffet that is "mexican" or "indian" or whatever - the rest of the buffet is "normal" I suppose you'd say :)

No other photo requests, to see more specifics of a given area of the ship?

So wonderful and so helpful...

I am sooo glad you are willing to test out the spa and have a massage for us!! I could not see the prices very well though, so could you tell me how much a massage is, and do they have couples prices?

Also, did you take the stingray tour though Carnival?

I hope and pray that you are enjoying this cruise and are not feeling too burdened by writing these posts, you are doing a fabulous job of it. Thanks so much.

Thanks for all your great reviews. I am sailing the Liberty on Jan 29th and almost cancelled after booking. I have read alot of reviews, people complaining of the crowds everywhere. I have sailed Carnival Spirit and Norwegian Spirit and never had any crowds, or waiting for anything. I guess it should be somewhat expected on a ship this size. Do you have a full ship?

Enjoy the rest of you cruise!

Wow ... Thank you for a great read.

For me it's like re-living our cruise again !!!! We also had an inside room on deck 7 and 8:00 PM dining in Silver room. :)

We didn't stop in Gorgetown in GK but on the other side of the island (with great beach!!!)

I have to say embarkation was pretty similar to yours :( and wan't pleasant experience.

We liked sushi! Nice appetizer before the dinner.

That's what I LOVE to hear! :) You've made my day as NCL Spirit is our next cruise.

Liberty is a great ship , but you are right it holds more people than it should. It doesn't prevent you from getting a great service (we had in both DR and from our cabin steward), but there are alot of people everywhere. (specialy in buffets!!!)

Love the up to the minute review and all the wonderful pictures! Are the hot tubs and lounges at the front of the ship you pictured open to passengers or is this area for cruise ship staff and personnel only? Do you know what floor this is on? It looks like it could be a peaceful adult place to relax.

Also, where is the large movie screen and what type of movies have been playing? Can't wait to read future excerpts about your adventures and commentary about your insight and experiences on this ship. I'll be tuning in. Only 108 days to go for me!! :)
