Congratulations! You have to hand it to NZ, with so many firsts in politics.

I hope the coalition works well together.

Possible new port for Auckland on the agenda.

New port for Auckland on the agenda.

Any new port for Auckland will be a long way off. They are however looking into the future when the container port will have to move north and Auckland will just handle cruise traffic.

some breaking news re the election result in NZ..

The Greens are also part of the new coalition and as such, part of the deal they have secured , is the right to a referendum on the personal use of marijuana.......

perhaps cruises to NZ will become even more popular ...:D:D:cool:

I read that this was one of Winston Peters' requirements. If the container port moves north, that should make it better for cruise ships, in the long term. Like the movement "To Save Our Harbour", as I think Auckland has a beautiful harbour.

Just read same article and came on to ask whether anyone has any ideas on what form this new tax will take?

NZ$25, so similar to the US tourism tax (or "fee").

The losers now in government want to reduce immigration. Long or short they haven't said so cruise ship numbers may actually be reduced

Thanks. Would it be included in the prices of tickets, e.g. air, ? cruise.
