Legends of the Pacific

GIve us more information on which ship and the ports and when. I don't remember the names that HAL gives to cruises other than the Voyage of the Vikings which we thought was great and will probably do it again.

This will be on the Maasdam, from August 28, 2019 to September 27, 2019. Leaves from Yokohama. Ports are Hiroshima, Nagasaki, Amami Oshima and Naha in Japan. Then on to Saipan and Guam. Then Papua Indonesia and stop in Jayapura. Four stops in Papua New Guinea: Wewak, Madang, Lae and Rabaul. On to Ghizo Island and Honiara in the Solomon Islands, followed by Ile des Pins and Noumea in New Caledonia. Leave the ship in Sydney, Australia!

In 2008 we took the 25-day Historical WII Cruise, going from south to north. It has been the best cruise to date that we have taken. Some different ports, however. We sailed from New Zealand, going to New Caledonia, New Guinea, Rabaul, Honiara, Saipan, circled Iwo Jima; visited Guam, Naha, Nagasaki, Inland Sea, and disembarked in Osaka. We thought that the WWII theme of the cruise was what made it so special because there were so many veterans and history-minded passengers on board. By all means, if you are interested in history, do it. It was great, and I love the South Pacific.

Rather than searching for Asia cruises, try selecting Maasdam and follow her itineraries month to month. That cruise is shown, following her San Francisco toJapan north Pacific crossing. A great itinerary for sure!

The Maasdam is going through some major renovations in 2018 to become an "Explorer" ship for HAL so maybe they are going to change the sailing schedule also. There was a thread on here a couple of days ago about that and I think there is something on the HAL website also.
