Nassau-- End Dec. Snorkeling from Beach? Too cold? Where?

I just did 90% of my Holiday shopping by purchasing cruse tickets for the week between Christmas and New Years! But-- What will the weather be like the last week of December in Nassau?

--My 13 year- old wants to try snorkeling from the beach, but what is the water temperature that time of year? What's the likelihood of the water being warm enough for an inexperienced snorkeler?

-Any beach suggestions? Open to safe public beaches, economical day passes, or maybe even excursions. Would like for him (us) to be able to see something, but stay safe in and out of the water. Chairs to rent would be a plus.

Thanks in advance. . .

The water and air temperature will be similar to South Florida. The water temperature will probably be in the low to mid 70s. Depending on what you are used to, it may be fine or feel quite cool.
