Anyone else get the princess players club "ultimate vip cruise" offer?

Recommended Posts

Got a mailer yesterday from the Princess Players Club outlining a new offer. In states that if I book a cruise from a list of 14 upcoming cruises, (which comes with reduced rates and perks), I would then receive an "invitation" to a cruise in the Caribbean next November on a super special V.I.P cruise.........

The nice part is I'm already booked on one of the listed cruises, so after a phone call I got my price reduced and perks added.

But my question????? Does "invitation" for the November cruise mean free cruise? I called Princess but the rep couldn't answer.......just wondering if anyone knows what the deal is??????

We are not big gamblers, so I'm assuming others got this offer.......

Hello!

I had received one of those as well, (although a few months ago). I wasn't quite sure how to read that. I'd also already booked my cruise and made final payment, (which happens to be the January 7th Regal), before I knew about the casino offer. I don't expect to get any booking discount, but I wonder if I'd be eligible for any of the perks. And no, I'm not a huge gambler, but a few drinks I don't have to pay for while I'm gambling a bit of money away anyway would be nice. Okay, truth....I'd also love a chance to get on that VIP cruise. I wish I could help you out. Glad you got the price change. Have fun!!

Edited because sometimes my fingers don't wait for my brain to catch up.... or is it the other way??

We got that offer in October and booked a cruise for next summer. It won't be free unless you gamble enough on your qualifying cruise to earn it. I asked one of the executive hosts about it on our October cruise and she had no other information yet about the date, ship, or itinerary. If they don't announce the details until August 31st, it's going to be tough for many folks to take time off, book airfare, etc. Stay tuned!

I don't think they will honor it since the offer has already expired. But it might be worth it to call the number on the offer and find out for sure.

I got this same offer a few weeks (or months) ago. Have booked on the Grand in August (complimentary interior which I've upgraded to a window suite). The November VIP cruise is probably an "invitation" unless you play lots on your first cruise - then it might be good for a free cabin. Who knows? The players club is getting more convoluted by the minute! My main gripe is that now they don't tell you onboard what you're entitled to - you have to contact them & wait -- and it's all email. Heaven forbid they should give you a number to talk with a live person!!

We picked the same cruise but I don't gamble enough to get the free offer so we got discounted fares, $125 in casino cash, plus all the VIP goodies. Agree with you about convoluted. I have had good luck with email, the phone response isn't as good as it used to be.

Friends of mine donated $7,000 to the casino on an RCI one week cruise recently and were offered a free cruise (inside cabin) on their next cruise. Are Princess levels similar?

The way I understand it, the Ocean Players Club is comprised of all the Carnival brand cruise lines, i.e. Carnival, Princess etc, and they combine your casino play in all venues to establish your casino perks.....but it seems they vary ship to ship. I once received a casino offer at the end of a Princess cruise and hardly gambled, then another time on a Carnival cruise I spent more than I should have and was offered nothing.

I'm guessing these offers are based on them trying to fill ships and who they think might spend money based on previous play. We travel to Las Vegas once a year, and usually receive no offers ahead of time. But this year, I've received so many free room offers I can't count them. Again, I'm guessing Vegas is hurting after the recent shootings and are trying to get people back in town.

Ah, okay. That makes sense. We gamble a very little bit on every cruise (3-4x a year) but have never been offered anything. Interesting about Vegas.

Slots or tables? If at a table, you need to give dealer your cruise card so they can register your play. And poker table (Texas Hold 'Em) doesn't count.

I am sailing Jan 2 on the Grand Princess 10 day Mexico for free and getting $1000 casino cash too. This is my 4th free cruise from the casino and I am not a huge player either. I did get the mailer but I was already booked.

on casino topic:

i played about 60 bucks through the Regal slots 2 months ago. in the past week i got what i deem stellar offers for the next 2 months. (14 nites for 1018 balcony and free taxes/port) and things like 7 nite 99 dollar inside (418 total) for 2. i know they arent 'free' or lotta obc but for me being new to princess i think its great. they also have decent solo rates which not many lines offer.

so playing does pay! my question is, do they 'bank' my play then offer this kind of thing on a continual or rotating basis? assume i dont sail anymore, will i get these offers in a few months/12 months etc? or this will be it for me?

I receive VIP casino cruise offers often probably because I played Blackjack alot on Alaska cruise 2 years ago. I have been on on one and besides the normal cabin credit was also given $300 casino credit. The best credit ever as I walked up to the cage and was given 300 cash. Gambled that the rest of cruise plus all the other extras. We are going on another VIP cruise to Caribbean the first week of April with another 300 casino credit. We then got a VIP deal for and chose the 10 day Alaska out of San Fransisco and will take the kids with a 600 casino credit. Travel Agents could not come close to offering what Princess was offering directly anywhere from 20 - 40 % below TA's. We received the ultimate VIP deal today including the cruise we have to Alaska so we will be calling Princess to see if we can get a better deal.

Update to my original post:

Sent off a email to Oceans Player Club and got a vague response from Brian which basically stated maybe you'll get and invitation and maybe you won't....but in any event no information will be released until after August 31st.

Then immediately following that email was a "how are we doing" survey! I made mention that they might need to work on their marketing skills as I was less than impressed with this offer which promises you something but gives you no information on what it is! ;p

carqueen you are not tellng the truth there is no way in hell you are getting a free cruise and $1000 gambling money and you are not a big gambler no way nada not possible 19 cruises a couple of hours everyday at an average of 25$ per hand on blackjack i did get the offer mentioned in this post but other than some free drinks thats it (PLUS some casino rates but they are not on cruises we would consider} i seldom see anyone playing a higher amount than myself have spoken with casino managers and no what i am saying

Depends the definition of not a big gambler means, I know a guy that drops $500 a spin on roulette and dropped over $15k on a cruise and he doesn't consider himself a big gambler. denial maybe.

I know I get the same offer, and it takes a lot to get that offer.

Everyone gets a personalized $$$ for "free play" too on this promotion

I know last year we took a free offer from Princess in Mexico where everything was included, drinks, specialty dining, free cash, and Excursions and car service to and from the port, Vegas like treatment. All we had to pay was flights and port fees and taxes. They even brought a few extra Hostesses from other ships and an Executive host from Carnivals HQ to cater for the select few that got that offer. The executive host even met us at the port and escorted us onboard. They called it the Princess Prestige Club, similar to the Ocean Players Club but more perks.

Theres a differeence betweeen a fire sale when they were trying to fill ships, and them giving free play money and cruises.

Discounts are for pretty much any gambling levels, free cruises and free play money are for higher level gambler incentives. theydon't offer these incentives to casual players.

Ipersonally keep in contact with regular hosts, and have direct contact with carnival executive hosts on promotions offered .

As i said before, someones leveel of play is subjective, my $500 daily buhin is small for me, but lots to someone else.

I did get an offer from Carnival about a week ago, $200 interior for 7 days. Needed a $200 deposit down that would be returned in OBC, also a "free" interior cabin for 7 days with no obc, but it had to be taken by the end of February, (for a really decent charge I could upgrade). Alas, my vacation time is already spoken for and I am booked and quite happy with my soon-to-be Regal Princess cruise. The offers for Carnival are better for me, well, except for the one that I received after I had already booked the Regal.

you missed my whole point people who gamble 60$ on the slots are not going to get what someone posted fact people who are not serious gamblers are not going to recieve free cruises and 1000$ fact i have been always treated very nicely by the casinos free drinks, specialty dinners and offers like this post started about i simply did not want folks being mislead and expecting something that was not going to happen people who read the posts can judge for themselves who knows what they are talking about those that dont such as yourself

You sure sound like a guy who lost a lot of money in the casino to get 'his' free cruise,

and is now upset when others get a free cruise for doing less.

Has anyone heard the date for the "Ultimate VIP" cruise in November? I'm doing a VIP cruise in August and the offer stated that if you do the VIP cruise, you'll get an invitation back for the "Ultimate" cruise. I would like to keep that time clear on my calendar.

Thanks!

We usually play slots and backjack 2-3 hours per day on cruises and almost always get $300 -$500 cruise cash per person letters on the last day. Then when we book we are usually able to get 25% or more discount on the cabin.

We played Bingo in the Vista Lounge several times on our Hawaii cruise in September. I noticed that a rep from the Casino came in and set up and took down the electronic bingo machine while all the assistant cruise director did was be the "caller". So it seemed as though Bingo is an extension of the casino (makes sense - game of chance). So I wonder if Bingo play gets noticed by Ocean Players Club?? We found we were dropping $70 bucks a day on bingo cards which gave us 45 minutes of entertainment and decided to stop doing that and get a couple hours entertainment feeding $70 bucks into the slots.

I have a VIP cruise booked for May 2018. I am also wondering when the Ultimate VIP cruise will be in November as I need to make arrangements to take off work.
