Free cruise certificates from the casino

Hey all, so apparently we spent way too much time in the casino on our last cruise, lol. Both of us qualified for free cruise certificates, we got one that is a balcony room and one that is for an ocean view room.

 

We are hoping to take some friends with us as there are a couple of sailings that are the same on both certificates. I see in the fine print that it says they can not be used on the same cruise, does RCI enforce that rule.

 

Has any one been able to redeem two certificates for the same sailing?

Unfortunately, you can’t use your certificate on someone other than you. However, what you could do is book one room for you and one of your friends and book another room for your spouse and your other friend.

I thought there was a rule against using multiple certificates on the same cruise. They could certainly try this but I think that technically, you are not allowed to use more than one certificate on any given cruise. I don't know how they would "catch" you but I don't think it's completely ethical to do this.

I know people that have used two certs for one cruise and get an upgrade to a JS if both certs were for balconies.

 

I don't think that you could book your friends into one of your certs though. Would like to hear the answer.

We each earn certificates for $$ off as well.

 

The casino will allow 1 person to use their $$ off certificate, and the other on the SAME reservation use the $$ off of their rate. However, you cannot stack them, for each person, from multiple sailings or promotions.

 

Our Majesty cruise was cut short in September, so we each only earned a $200 certificate. We each used them for the Navigator sailing that is coming up in January.

Do they still issue casino certificates?  I gamble a fair bit while on a cruise, I have a Celebrity certificate, but, it is so restricted on its use, in fact 2 of the dates had already past when the host gave me the certificate. 

 

I am thinking of switching to somewhere my play will be rewarded. 

 

Any tips would  be really appreciated. Thank you

My wife and I are in the same boat (pun intended) and were comped on our last cruise.  We ended up booking a 4 night on the Mariner.  I was offered a Junior Suite and my wife an interior. We used her comp as an upgrade to an owner's suite.  Couple of things I learned when calling Club Royal..  You'll get a lot of offers in the mail and email and they tend to go fast.  May help to have a list of cruises you want to do and cross check them with the host.  Be sure to mention your wife's comp for the cabin upgrade.  I read it could be done on this forum and mentioned it to our booker who had to check to see if he could do it.

 

Not sure how far out you can book or when they send out the deals, but I called on a cruise offer that I got in the mail that day and it was not available.  Maybe others with more experience can add to the discussion with tips!

It was quite a bit.  We like to gamble and like to cruise.  The amount we gamble stays pretty constant.  Just now, we are doing it on a "free" cruise.  We live in the Tampa Bay area so we can drive to any port within 4 hours in Florida, which takes airplane travel expense out of the equation for us. 

 

There's a Seminole Hard Rock 30 minutes away, but since they are the only casino game in town they are stingy with the perks.  Did a night there a few weeks back and as a joke asked the receptionist for 2 free buffet ticket.  You'd thought I was asking for her first born child.  We'd rather catch the "free" flight/room out of Clearwater to the Beau Rivage in Biloxi and gamble there.   At least they, like RCI, values the piles of money I lose to them!!

DrunkinCrab....been to the Hardrock, use to live in Brandon. Now we are over by Port Canaveral. I’m little miffed all money I’ve dropped in casino on cruises I never signed up for their loyalty program thought it was for the keychains & tee-shirts like free spin tokens! But now I know.......

In order to qualify for the free cruises or money off simply insert your seapass card to track your points.

I cruise 6-7 times a year in royal, always on comped cruises from casino. Make sure your card is inserted in slot and make sure the dealers scan your cards. I get instant certificates as well as an annual free cruise for my status and random offers every month or so.

we are the same way when it comes to the Hard Rock I will not give them any money The Beau Fly's us to them gives us food and now they give us cruises on Royal and Celebrity too how can you beat that.

I agree with everyone else - since Royal has changed their program it is relatively easy to earn a free cruise if you are a gambler.  I've got a free one on the Oasis in December, one in January on the Symphony (that's my gambling friend's free one) and I'm still sitting on an 8 day or less free one that I'm trying to figure out how to squeeze in before it expires in March.

Do you get much choice on where you can use your voucher?    This was the problem with celebrity choice of 4 and 2 had already sailed.  I gamble a fair bit, which is all part of the holiday for me, so I think it will not too difficult to get to whatever level I need to get to (fingers crossed)
