Fiordland NP "Scenic Cruising"

Recommended Posts

I am trying to select a "shore excursion" (non Princess) for Fiordland NP. Does Princess dock anywhere that a 3rd party tour company can pick you up? The Princess site only says "scenic cruising", but they offer/mention some shore excursions.

No they don’t dock. It is scenic cruising.

Apart from a short time at the head of Milford Sound, the ships don't stop anywhere. For Milford the ship enters the sound and cruises to the head where it turns 180 degrees, before coming back out the same way. It may pause for a short while if passengers are rejoining/leaving the ship for an overnight Queenstown excursion which links to the Dunedin port stop. For the other two sounds the ship enters at one part of the sound/passage and exits a different way, in other words it does a transit through that waterway. The times listed in the itinerary are the expected times that the ship will be in each sound.
