Beach with flamingos?

Recommended Posts

They avoid people, so no. Your kids might enjoy a rented golf cart (from Bonaire cruisers)and seeing more island along with the stop for beach time. And for sure visit the Donkey Sanctuary. Precious up close and personal time with hundreds of protected donkeys.:)

Thanks! Thinking the golf carts too. I take it the orient you where to find the flamingoes, salt flats, donkeys, beach bars. If we wanted to stop at a beach for an hour, which one would we target?

won't find the long wide beaches like on other islands here. But as you travel south, you'll come across a small beach area where they people do wind boarding which is great to watch. There's a nice area to sit and watch or go into the water. Too, along the way back into town you can go into the Sorobon beach area. Not the resort, but the small beach next to it. We saw lots of people and families here.

When you rent, you'll get a great map and any detailed instructions/directions to spend your day. Just ask. It's easy. Other than driving in the city which is trickier because of traffic, the roads have gravel pull-overs all along. So if you see someone in the rear view tailing you to pass, just pull over. No fears. Drivers are used to the carts. We found a parking spot in town and had lunch before heading north. You could even go back to the ship for lunch or shop if you find a spot to park. (just remove the key if you do..:0)

Do some research beforehand so you know the history of the slave houses, salt flats etc. Without a tour, you'll need to self guide. ;p
