Looking for a nice beach with restaurant

Recommended Posts

We will be in Barbados on a Sunday and are looking for a nice beach with a restaurant to spend a few hours. Not really interested in a crowded beach where water sports are available, something quiet and low key, even at a hotel that charges a fee would be fine. Any suggestions???

Harbor Lights and Lobster Alive may fit your needs - check out the reviews on this board and trip advisor. Taxi each way to either will be about $5 per person - or you can walk it in about 20 or so minutes.

Lobster Alive has a lovely jazz band playing on a Sunday afternoon, booking is recommended. Although I am sure if there are just 2 of you you would get seated.

They have beach loungers and shade to hire but I wouldn't say it is a quiet beach. You are next to The Boatyard which can get busy.

Another lovely beach is Alleynes Beach, which is approx 20 minutes taxi ride from the cruise port. There are 2 beach bars, Santi and JuJu's to choose from or the lovely Lone Star restaurant. The beach bars rent beds and shade. IMO this is one of the nicest beaches and not too busy. This is also where the Fairmont Royal Pavillion Hotel is situated.

Do look at reviews of all of the above.

We love going to Payne's Bay Beach. This is a gorgeous beach! It's quiet and most people on the beach are holiday makers staying in rented condos or a nearby hotel. It's about a 20-25 minute taxi ride from Bridgetown or the cruise pier at a cost of $16 USD one way.

You can rent loungers and an umbrella (two chairs and one umbrella) for $20 USD. There is a small beach bar restaurant/shack with a covered area of picnic tables where you can eat flying fish sandwiches (specialty of Barbados, do try it!) with macaroni pie and drink rum punch and Banks beer. You may pay in US Dollars. Also a loo (toilet) behind the beach bar.

You may also take a boat ride or a jet ski ride - saying that, it is not a noisy beach where I saw only one couple partake in the jet skis in the four hours that we were there.

Easy enough to get a taxi back to the pier by walking to the road.

Enjoy your day!

These are great recommendations.

I also agree with JohninDC that you can search on this board to find reviews/reports from those who visited and also use Trip Advisor.
