Flying out of Galveston in July

I’m ready to book my flights for my cruise in July out of Galveston.

I know Galveston has fog issues. Do I need to worry about that in July?

I’m trying to figure out if I should book a late flight going home. Any advice is appreciated!

Thanks!

Fog in July is rare. Thunderstorms are more likely that time of year than fog.

Just remember that HOU is closer to port than IAH, but both are a fair distance.

There's construction on I-45 between Clear Lake and the Causeway from now until the end of time, too. (Only half joking; it's a multi-year widening project.)

Thunderstorms can cause flights to be delayed coming in and going out, so take that into account. We were flying out one year to Seattle for a cruise to Alaska, and were scheduled to leave at 9 a.m., but didn’t get out until 9 p.m. and were lucky it wasn’t cancelled altogether. We had a day built in to get there though, so all was good. Just made for a long day at the airport.

Yes, Summer storms and "Construction season" I'd fly in day early and relax. Winter time I fly in from Michigan 2 days early...

I live about 7 miles from Galveston and no, fog shouldn't be an issue at that time of the year. Traffic yes...fog, no

If at all possible, fly in and out of Hobby airport. It is much closer to Galveston. IAH airport is on the north side of Houston and MUCH more expensive to get to Galveston.

Just a reminder.....LOTS of construction going on the freeway leading to Galveston. Traffic is bad! If you plan accordingly you should be fine.
