Platinums, what the heck is wrong with you??

Recommended Posts

Carnival needs to que the line then no one cuts in front. 1st in line= 1st off simple

But on the other hand, when the 1st ones there block up the entrance for others to get in, then where is everyone else supposed to go??? Well....in front of them of course

Wanted to vent a little, and I think that it needs to be said.

Well my hubby and me(25 plus cruises) love the benefit of self disembarkment whenever the cruise ship docks at its end.

We always get up early clear out of the room and like to get down to the "assigned" area to wait for the ship to be cleared for disembarkment by customs. We have been platinum members for quite a while.

What is wrong with people who saunder down to the area at the last minute and think that they can stand in front of you and get off the ship before you??? We are all adults right? Well today I decided that I would make them famous by taking their pictures and telling them I was gonna post their pictures as line cutters.

I dont think you should have to even have a conversation with adults, cause they know. One of the line cutters told me that she had it done to her before and she didnt like it. Why would she do that then?? Are people getting more stupid??

Thanks

Why not publicly shame them, they were rude and mean. People need to realize there are consequences for their actions and face them.

Hi Op

I appreciate your need to vent. I do agree with most others who feel you have managed to get overly upset over very little. I am sure by tomorrow you will understand how unimportant this turmoil was to your life.

hope you had a great cruise

We’ve had this same issue but on my last cruise it was well organized. On the vista when you enter the assigned station (dining room), you are instructed exactly where to place your suitcase. We were also instructed to have suitcase turned to the correct position so you could easily grab it and walk forward. After the suitcase was parked, you could sit wherever until your line of suitcases was called to debark. Those that came in later were escorted to the back of the suitcase line to leave their bag. It was well organized. Once the go ahead was given we went to our suitcase and simply followed the line out.

That was my experience on the Vista too. It was the most organized way I have ever seen. The CD even made an announcement that they do it this way so that the first people to arrive are the first ones off of the ship. Carnival should use this system on every ship.

I never want to get off the ship, so I promise if I ever get to platinum I wont block you.

My DH had a terrible fall last year, shattered his skull in 4 places (this due to chemo) I wont say that he is "slow" but he isn't aggressive anymore. He was waiting in line a few weeks ago, he knew what he wanted to order, but people kept butting in front of him- I had gone to pick up something and saw what was happening. I walked up and said loudly, "I can't believe how many rude people there are here, just cutting in front of you", three of them walked away without ordering. People know when they are doing wrong, all this don't judge me business, just justifies not doing right. I don't have a problem stating what I feel is wrong, and when I am in the wrong, I can at least say, "I'm sorry". Good luck. And I want to see pictures!:D

Very true. Carnival could do a much better job of organizing debarkation

The last cruise my family and I went on was last August. While I enjoy being platinum and being able to take cruises like I do, I will not let "line cutters" upset me. When disembarking in August we waited with all the other platinums and when told it was time, we got up, waited until everyone in front of us went and then just as we were outside of the waiting area a group of about 5-6 people(not platinum) that knew how it worked jumped in front of us. When we got to customs area to leave the terminal, they were in the line that was not moving. We were already out the door and in the vehicle probably before they made it out of the terminal. I guess what I am trying to say is you just went on this fun filled cruise, don't let rude people get on your nerves and stress you at the end of your vacation because my theory is that they will get what is coming to them for their rudeness & lack of respect for others. Don't let a few bad apples ruin the basket.

Seriously; how long does it take for all the plats to walk off? We’ve never waited more than 5 min when priority self-assist starts.

What was amusing is in the Triumph they’d stack all the priority folks in the dining room and some would put luggage in the front blocking the way.

The cruise staff would come in and make them move it for diamonds and plats to leave. FTTF folks with Blue cards did the luggage walk of shame more than once.

I still don't see how this has anything to do with platinum members?

Do people really get that upset about getting off the ship? Of course "line cutters" stink, but its not worth all that frustration. Do you think its just platinum members in that line? I highly doubt that...just sayin

I was reading this and it had me wondering too. But then it hit me, it's Carnival. There are no rules or Controls.

HOLY COW!!! I sympathize with you CAROL1560 and it is you and I against 2,000 responses. I am Platinum also and understand your frustration. It is a promised benefit to get off early so why are so many cheating the system. Come on Carnival! Do your job and stop pretending there is no problem.

Now I suggest CAROL1560 that you and I take cover because shortly the responding rocks should soon be hurled. Oh and Carnival, not to worry. You and I are still buddies and I have Carnival cruises booked for 2019 and 2020.

Yikes! That rock almost got me!

LOL... Well, when in life something so small like "line cutters" (when disembarking) makes you mad enough to want to take a picture of them and threating them to post it, there is no help for you. Sorry

Wouldn't life be easier if the cruise line looked at what a mess this is ALL the time or at least our last 15 times doing it!

Why change the meeting spot to a place more equipped to handle this other than the dining room where people just pour into and drop luggage to block everyone else

Have ropes, make lines to form, give tickets AND check them. Their are solutions it just needs to be addressed

Nobody is throwing rocks at you or the OP. Several folks have asked what the point of publicly shaming these people by posting their pictures would be. Are they planning on posting them here on CC? On Facebook? The chances of the offending party seeing those pictures is remote, and even if they were to see them I’m doubtful it would change their behavior in the future. Has the OP discussed this with Carnival directly? How did this impact their day in a significantly negative way?

Seems like a hell of a lot of frustration and angst over a seemingly minor thing.

Sometimes I come to this website for the sole purpose of seeing what some folks get their knickers in a twist over. Often I'm disappointed that it is a real issue, other times I get a chuckle at what nonsense (my opinion) people get spun up over....this is one of those times. :'):')

Unfortunately, there will always be people who are intentionally oblivious to others or just plain oblivious. I try my best to keep my cool because as others have said, its not really worth your time. However, we are all human and sometimes we can't keep ourselves together.

On the other side, sometimes I think these people continue this behavior because they assume that 90% of the time, no one will call them out and they get away with it. Sigh. The world will never be perfect, its how we deal with the imperfections that matters.

The truth of the matter is that the cruise line really does not care. They just want us off the ship as quickly as possible.

Don't think they're getting "stupid," it's more like "rude." Sense of entitlement perhaps?

But honestly, the "worst" group of people I've ever cruised with was the inaugural trans-Atlantic crossing on the Vista. CCL had emailed every Platinum in their database and made us offers we couldn't refuse - so sadly - the passenger population was something like 60% Platinum. I don't know how we all squeezed into the Platinum party. But, it was TERRIBLE; line cutting, whining, overwhelming "sense of entitlement," by virtually everybody...like being surrounded by poor spoiled rich kids disguised as adults.

You have my sympathies!

I invented standing in line.

You invented standing in line?

Before everybody milled around. It was a mess. So one day I said, "Why not make a line?"

For what?

To get in.

It goes beyond that, new rules have to be made,,,

only 1 piece of luggage in self assist!

got 2 or more, too bad!

We saw people a couple weeks ago trying to maneuver 3 pieces of luggage plus a carry on! Of course they just held everyone up while they continually dropped things!:D

I do self assist with my carry on sized suitcase and under seat bag and I handle myself just fine. The smaller one goes on top of the larger one and I only have 1 thing to wheel. How many people travel on a week long cruise with truly only 1 case? I feel pretty good about 2 small ones!

How about instead of restricting luggage, we concentrate on the problem which is the issue of disorganization and not following the rules. I agree that Vista had the most organized Priority self assist I have ever experienced. If they all did it like that, there would be less issues. Oh and if people also followed directions which says you need to be able to handle your luggage for self assist, it would work more smoothly as well.

The irony is that I see these rude people as being the same ones earlier in the cruise who were calling people snowflakes.

Snowflakes are more susceptible to perceiving another's behavior as rude. Not saying that's the case here but just some food for thought I guess.

Except I have two hands and shoulders, as does my wife. At 34 years old, we feel we can safely navigate one piece of luggage each hand and a backpack on each of our shoulders.

Not everyone is a bumbling fool.

I just don’t see that many people struggling on the gangway. A one off doesn’t merit a policy to limit bags. Any attempt to limit is foolish.

Agreed. At 59 I’m only bumbling moderately. The fool part is subjective. Ask the wife on that.

If there is NO line there are no line cutters!

On a cruise 2 years ago we arrived at the platinum lounge early, took our seats near the front, keeping our suitcases clear of the door so people could get in. Then our boys (16) went out for a last bathroom stop (or maybe track down "the cute girl"). When we got up to leave one woman start screaming at me for cutting in front of her. Screaming and screaming. Trying as many of you suggested to shame me. I guess she didn't realize we had been there long before her. It was just the boys that came back after she arrived.

AGAIN - with no line it is nearly impossible to know when each person arrived in the room. AND, I think people should be able to make a bathroom run!!!

Why is your thread directed towards Platinums?????

smh.............

This was my exact question. Was it Platinum members cutting the line say things like "We go first because we are Platinum"? Whatever the case may be, is it really a big deal that 5-20 people take cuts? So what, you get of the ship 5 mins or so later. My DW wife would be just like the OP, myself it really would not be that big of a deal.

How horrible that the people who come later and are unable to get past the people who are crowded at the entrance with luggage blocking the way are forced to wait in the hallway.

Perfect post!

Last time we struggled to get past the line of luggage left with no space to walk past without carrying our luggage over it.

Maybe the line cutters are on to something.

This is all about feeling entitled, and that's how many people feel today. It's not just in cruising, or only a certain level. I've seen plenty of people do it. It happens at my kid's school every day. Most people get there and park on the side street. But there are always the same 4-5 people who pull up at the minute the kids start getting out, sit in the middle of the street blocking traffic, and waiting for their 12-13 year old kid to walk right to the car. I'm always confused because their kid apparently won't recognize them if they're halfway down the block or their kid apparently is unable to walk after school. It's ridiculous! My husband seemed to think I was exaggerating, but he's picked up our kid recently and couldn't believe the way people were. And it's a small school, about 320 kids (so it's not like you're searching through a thousand kids to find yours!) But it's that feeling that "I'm the only person in the world that matters."

I can't say I've dealt with it when getting off the cruises, but I've seen it in other ways on the cruise for sure.
