Jimmycruiser Posted March 21, 2018 #1 Share Posted March 21, 2018 We need to purchase either Azamara Cruise Care insurance or 3rd party like Travel Guard. Not worried about hotel or flight cancellations so mainly just the cruise portion of our trip. Leaning towards Cruise Care because Too late to get pre existing health condition covered and Azamara offers credit toward future cruise if We cancel for any reason. We are already booked with Azamara for September cruise but have not made final payment yet. Appreciate any thoughts and recommendations from experienced cruisers. hiccups Posted March 21, 2018 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2018 I'd do a price comparison with some of the other companies out there. We've always received better coverage at a lower price elsewhere, but we've also never had to make a claim (fingers crossed I didn't just jinx our next trip). Kamloops50 Posted March 21, 2018 #4 Share Posted March 21, 2018 Look at other companies and compare apples to apples , not apples and oranges. Is cancel for any reason included and what percent refund Pre existing conditions Age factor in premium ( in Canada a big issue if over age sixty)
dolllover Posted March 23, 2018 #5 Share Posted March 23, 2018 Pre existing coverage is very important to us as DH has severe asthma that can put him in the hospital. Thankfully it hasn't happened on a trip. We always buy the gold standard with Travel Guard within a few days of our booking to make sure we are covered. bob278 Posted March 23, 2018 #6 Share Posted March 23, 2018 The advice to compare is good. There are several sites that make it easy to compare and buy. Check out: https://www.insuremytrip.com/ https://www.squaremouth.com/ If you take more than 1 trip per year (and don't forget if you travel for other than a cruise), consider an annual policy. Allianz has a pretty good one as does Nationwide. I think both of them have limited coverage for cancellation ($15,000 and 10,000 I think) but they cost a lot less than 3 individual policies. https://www.allianztravelinsurance.com/ https://www.nationwide.com/travel-insurance-services-hi.jsp
