Suites choices

we want to book on either the Ruby or Caribbean Princess -

can someone explain the different "Suites" as far as size and location

we need a cabin large enough for 4 adults

Go to Princess.com and you will find a section on the ships. Select the ship you want to look at and then select deck plans. For each deck on the right hand side of the page you will see the kind of cabins on that deck and you will be able to tell if there are suites on that deck.

 

Generally speaking, suites have a large bed and a sofa bed in a layout that permits very little privacy, although some suites have more square footage than others. You can click on each suite on the deck plan and it will show you an actual picture and also a floor plan. It will include the average square footage (including the balcony) for that cabin.

 

If you are looking for some level of privacy, you would need to look at family suites. I think they provide privacy but only one couple will have a king bed layout and the other would have two twins. To book a family suite, you must do so over the phone so I have no idea of the relative price.

 

You might also want to consider Club Class mini-suites and getting one for each couple. You would get many of the perks of a suite but have some privacy.

 

Clicking on any cabin will tell you if there are special perks associated with that level of cabin.

For 4 adults, you might want to consider booking adjacent balcony or larger cabins and have your cabin steward open the door in the balcony partition wall between the two cabins. This will give everyone the most privacy and comfortable beds as well as two bathrooms and yet let you join each other without having to go from door to door through the hallway.

As others have mentioned search the deck plans, deck by deck on the Princess.com site. From the banner select on board our ships, then deck plans. Not all full suites can handle 4 passengers. When searching select 4 passengers. Those cabins that can handle 4 will be shown. Window suites on deck 6 of the Caribbean Princess are usually priced pretty good. The family suites have separate bedrooms, but the balconies can be windy when the ship is under way.

Was going to suggest the same thing. When we cruised with our teen daughters, we got 2 adjoining rooms and opened the balcony door. This gave us 2 bathrooms- a BIG plus with teen daughters!

The question you should ask is what is the comfort level between all of the adults?

 

We love the grand class aft Vista suites but as noted, little or no privacy. There is a barrier you can pull at night but it's basically just a heavy curtain. We sail with our 2 kids, now 20 somethings, so running around less than fully dressed was not an issue for us but if it is for any in your party, two cabins might be the way to go. As also noted, the sofa bed is less than ideal even with a topper on it.
