2005 - Your worst NCL Memories

Mine is this past November on the Jewel...waiting for the tender boat in

Roatan in soak drenching pouring rain. that boat never came.

Then our entire line got directed to another boat and we lost our place(we were close to the front). Ended up on a boat that they packed with way too many people and there were complaints that we were put in danger of the boat capsizing due to overload.

Actually it wasn't NCL's fault. I was on the Dawn when we were hit with the rogue wave. It was a big storm and it was really scary. I'm a little paranoid about going through 24 hours of heavy seas again! But the best way to handle your fears is by facing them- so I will get back on the horse- or shall I say the boat- in April.

Perhaps losing so many of the Dawn crew members to the Jewel. The Dawn was staffed with the best people.

Looking forward to giving the new crew members the chance to fill those shoes in March.

With my luck, they will all be on vacation by then.

They will be tough shoes to fill and we hope they are up to it when we board the Dawn once again in three weeks.

Not the fault of NCL but never the less annoying. Jewel, ship excursion to Rome was almost a two hour drive. A large family on the bus that had a small child, about maybe a year old and a toddler maybe two. The baby screamed none stop from the pier to Rome. The toddler ran up and down the bus aisle. Same way on the long bus back to the pier after a tiring day of sightseeing in horrible heat in Rome. Not the hightlight of my cruise.

By the way, I do love children. I have four of my own.

Just wanted to vent.

Happy New Year to you all !!!!!

Don't worry, the Dawn crew even with the Jewel and other transfers is awesome. Enjoy!

Most of our trip on the Star this past June was great but we did have one BIG disappointment. One of the main reasons for cruising the Star out of Seattle, other than Glacier Bay, was the itinerary which showed the ship to cruise the first day on the east side of Vancouver Island. We had cruised the Carnival Spirit in 2001 out of Vancouver so we were looking forward to our first day at sea because we knew how beautiful it was. Needless to say when we saw on this board that all the cruises were going out to sea on the west side of the island we were very disappointed. We were even more disappointed when our cruise did the same thing. We had told our cruise partners how beautiful the first day would be and then we ended up eating crow. We sent a letter to Miami stating our dissatisfaction and of course got the company line about the fine print and how they could do anything they wanted to. I understand that perfectly, but when none of the cruises all year take that route that is more than a little misleading. As I stated in the first line though this was the only glitch in the cruise. If the itinerary and price is right we will not hesitate to cruise NCL again.

Thanks for the reassurance. It's good to know that the Dawn is maintaining its high standard of staff and service despite losing many of its best people to the Jewel. Three weeks to go.

Worst memory...having to cancel Mexican Riviera cruise two weeks before departure (huge penalty) after finding out I was pregnant and too sick to travel at the time. I was seven weeks pregnant. I didn't mention this on the board. I didn't demand compensation. I didn't send a letter to everyone at NCL asking why they're so heartless for not understanding morning sickness. LOL I simply kicked myself in the backside for not buying insurance and learned a valuable lesson. :D

Oh-Karen, you know me so well for never having met face to face.

Actually, my worst memories of cruising this past year was meeting a few people that did not quite get the essence of FOMT cruising. :o

Dealing with NCL customer service. Long waits on hold, reps who seem not to know what they are talking about, getting contradictory information/answers to the same question from different reps;

All this in sad comparison to the overall good on-board experience.

I've seen people comment that all, large companies' phone in customer service is poor these days but NCL's was just about the worst I've ever had to deal with.

I didn't know you had any NCL cruises in 2005. Where did you go? Was it the Dawn? I think I remember this but not sure. Thanks.

My worst NCL memory. Everything about the cruise and it started when my reservation disappeared out of thier system then they charged my credit card twice. The ship wasn't even close to clean and the staff didn't speak any english. I had to repeat to the waiter 5 or 6 times everything I wanted for dinner. I will never go NCL again.

You got to be kidding this is 2006. We are talking about 2005 and you are still talking about 1993:eek: :D :D

I'm curious if this is in reference to your cruise on in '93? Or did you cruise with them in '05?

It had to be my cruise on the Sky. It was the last Caribbean cruise before the Sky left NCL to become the POAL with NCLA. Most of the old crew were replaced with the brand all-American crew. Those crewmembers were absolutely terrible.:( Overpaid, oversexed, rude and aboard the Sky out of San Juan without any clue of what customer service was supposed to be. It was my worst cruise ever. It was an absolute joy to be off the ship in the ports, and my group of ten, spent the last four days of the cruise, at the aft lounge, rather than ever entering the dining room again. Lucky for NCL that the following year, we booked the Spirit which made up by at least 100% for our negative experience on the Sky! :D

In an effort to keep the best of 2005 positive and knowing this board I thought it would be good to have a place for 2005 a year in review worst NCL memories . :(

Have at it

My worst NCL memory in 2005 is I had to pay for my cruises. Other than that all was rather wonderful. Going to try again in 2006 I might just find something. :) :)

Watching the passenger in who threatned to call the corporate office because the waiter wouldn't serve him 5 lobster tails after the chef said no. What a pig!

Silly of him to have such a fit over it. He could've easily gotten 2 or 3 and then just gone to another dining room. ;)
