There is no safe parking location in Miami except for parking directly at the Port Of Miami. For twenty two dollars a day your vehicle is parked in a secure location directly across from the cruise terminals. At the conclusion of your sailing you leave the ship, pass through Customs, retrieve your luggage and your on your way home. I have read two many less than wonderful stories about outside parking since I joined Cruise Critic way back in 2002. Personally it’s not worth the hassle to save a few dollars and then have trouble getting transportation back to your vehicle, finding it possibly damaged, etc.

I worked in downtown Miami for the past 13 years. No outside car lot in Miami is safe. Park at the port in a secure parking garage. Not worth getting your car stripped, damaged or stolen, especially lots on NW 7th Ave.

I think there is a bit of an overhype on the crime in Miami. I live in Downtown Miami, its an extremely safe area and probably one of the safest areas in the city.

However, the parking lots are usually not in the best areas, even when they say Downtown Miami. And there is a big difference between actual dangerous personal crime, and people breaking windows of cars. Which is probably a big issue still. I have two cars parked in a parking garage all day in Downtown. Thankfully have not had any issues yet.

That being said, one of the reasons I suggest the port is its is SO much easier. It is more secure 100%, and you don't need to deal with shady parking operations.

Too many reports of "lost" reservations/deposits, extra fees, long delays, no-show shuttles and vandalized cars for me to ever consider parking off site in Miami.
