Yoopermoose Posted May 9, 2018 #1 Share Posted May 9, 2018 I read a new review about the Norwegian Pearl where somebody had purchased a spa pass and their two teens contracted fungal infections after two days of using the spa. Has anybody else had any negative experiences with the Pearl’s spa!? I bought a pass for my cruise in June but now I’m not sure that I want it! Sent from my iPhone using Forums If there was an issue with fungal spores it's likely they caught it from someone on the same sailing. I would assume by now it's been taken care of, otherwise you'd hear about it happening to more than two teens from the same family. Maybe they caught it elsewhere as well. Son of a son of a ... Posted May 9, 2018 #3 Share Posted May 9, 2018 We practice the same hygiene as in the gym locker room at home ... shower shoes everywhere, always sit on a towel in sauna, etc., do not go in “wet rooms” with cuts, etc., always shower, and never leave in wet clothes. Knock on wood, but no fungi. The spa is clean ... it’s the shipmates who are funky monkeys :)
Mistizoom Posted May 10, 2018 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2018 Since teens are not allowed to purchase a "spa pass" I don't see how this could be true.
Sauer-kraut Posted May 10, 2018 #5 Share Posted May 10, 2018 Under 18's aren't allowed in the spa. They probably picked up something in a hot tub....
Fincherson Posted May 10, 2018 #6 Share Posted May 10, 2018 Or on a shore excursion. I caught a yeast rash from dirty saddle pads in Jamaica during a cruise in 2002 when I was 17.
Yoopermoose Posted May 10, 2018 Author #7 Share Posted May 10, 2018 By “teens” maybe they meant 18 or 19? I’m not sure. But thanks for the advice! I’ll be sure to take extra precautions and I’m glad to hear this isn’t a common occurrence. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
zqvol Posted May 10, 2018 #8 Share Posted May 10, 2018 If you don't want the spa pass you can always cancel the purchase. Logic however says that if the infection came from the spa, that a lot more than two people would have it. It is really hard to figure out where you contract any given ailment, because we are all moving, and you can get anything from anywhere.
