Always receive group 1 embarking on cruises. Disembarkation priority is also listed as a "perk" for platinum members. I have never been able to determine on any of the 15 NCL cruises where you go for priority disembarkation at final port. Have asked concierge, guest services, and officers, and no one even seems to know this is on the list of so called "perks" . So we usually just end up in regular line for walk off with our luggage. Don't want to wait for a group or color of luggage tags to be called. Anyone know about where to go for priority disembarkation (other than Haven):o

Priority disembarkation is getting Yellow luggage tags which are the first to be available in the baggage hall after the Gold suites tags.

On some of the small ships, the concierge may invite you to be escorted off (we have seen this on about 20% of our our small ship cruises - not normal). On most ships, you will be with the masses getting off. It is PRIORITY not escorted. Same as with tenders, your platinum status will allow you to "join the line" at any point in time, but not "cut to the front of the line" like suites guests.

Yes, that’s right. The yellow tags are available at guest services and are not put out for the general public.

Thanks for providing this info. I’ve never understood how this worked. Not exactly the perk I thought it would be, but it’s something. Better than asking a crew member where P+ passengers where to go for priority disembarkation and getting a blank stare in return.

I have gotten my Platinum Plus (gold) luggage tags delivered to my cabin in am envelope with a letter explaining where to meet and what time. It came from the CruiseNext Desk. This has happened several times on The Getaway.

Not anymore. You need to go to either CruiseNext or Guest Services to pick them up - show your cruise card that you are Platinum.

Was on escape in Feb and had to request yellow tags. First time I put luggage out, normally self carry. I was pleasantly surprised in Miami to see my bags easily identified as soon as I entered the luggage area. Very convenient and it was nice going through the disembarktion with just a carry on. Hopefully other ports are similar. Debbie

For the past few years, we have done a combination of self walk off and using the yellow tags.

We get the tags and put all but one case out. We keep one back so we can pack the previous days clothes and wash bags etc in it, but don’t have to wheel all of our cases around. As we use the yellow tags our bags are always there waiting for us, even if we leave fairly early.

It works very well for us, as it saves having to mess around rearranging bags before getting on a flight (moving washbags out of carry ins for example).

Your tags will be delivered to you. If they aren't, just go to guest services and show your cabin card. They aren't out in the open for the general public.

You have been on a very special list if you got the Gold (VIP) tags with a where to meet and time to be escorted off the ship.

We have been Platinum Plus since they created that status and all they want to give us on the Escape was the Yellow tags which does not come with an escorted disembarkation. The Yellow group is the first one called AFTER the Gold tags are escorted off. (Gold are Haven/Suite or very special VIP.)

We had one cruise where we got Gold tags but they came from a special group we were associated with onboard. On that one we met at a special place and time and we were allowed to disembark prior to any others being called.

I had it on my last cruise. I don't remember who I asked, but they took me in the crew spaces and down to the front of the line, and got right off the ship. After that point you are out of NCL's control and don't get any special treatment. I am sorry I don't remember who I asked, but as I recall I got a letter about it the prior day.

BTW, the luggage tags were NOT available at the service desk, they were delivered to my cabin.

Thank you all for the great info.

Can anyone tell me how platinum priority disembark works at "normal ports."  Not tender or final.

Thanks.

Two weeks ago on Bliss I asked for Platinum tags (yellow) from the Cruise Next desk.  On disembarkation morning, we had breakfast and got in a big, long line that snaked through the casino, through Manhattan and outside.  While in the line, we heard them call yellow to disembark (so we figured we would be ok - even though we got in line before they called yellow) but when we were almost through we were taken out of line because the crew member had not been notified that yellow could disembark.  We waited while phone calls were made and then allowed to disembark.  We took it in stride.  :classic_cool:

the yellow luggage tags mean your bags are off ship first and in an area close to final ship disembarkation area

it means you don't have to search out your bags in a large holding area

you can leave the ship whenever you want

we are never in a rush to get off so vacate cabin by 8.30 and have a leisurely breakfast with our carry off bags

head off ship between 9.30 to 10 when mad rush is over and just pick up bags from holding area and off we go

whether we get tags delivered to our cabin or pick them up from cruise next desk varies by ship

there is usually a letter in cabin explaining what to do but have never had special escort off ship

Wow, my experience is total different and I'm only gold.  With gold you get priority disembark just like platinum.  On our Escape cruise in Dec we wanted to do the walk off ourselves but wanted to first off after suites, we asked at the desk and they told us to be at the 5 o'clock somewhere bar at a certain time and someone would escort us off, the did escort the few who showed up off via private cruise quarters elevator and we were directly behind haven passengers, it was awesome

The priority disembarkation is one of the platinum perks that IMO is a bit misleading.  Along with the concierge services.  Whenever we are not in a suite we find the concierge platinum perk to be non existent.

I was able to access the concierge on the gem as a platinum for a dinner time by finding out concierge hours in the VIP lunch restaurant for haven guests. However, on a ship like the escape with its own restaurant, I doubt I could gain access to the concierge since that area requires a key.

I guess technically you could call the concierge.  I'm sure they would give you his number if you go to passenger services.   We just make reservations in advance when we don't have a suite because we have never had luck getting the concierge when not in a suite.  YMMV

This topic has been discussed to death. NCL needs to determine if this is a loyalty perk or not. If it is, it should be clearly offered as a service with a designated concierge. If it’s not, it should be deleted in the list of perks . End of story.

Thanks njhorseman.  I just wasn't sure since when I had been given concierge access (before it was a platinum reward) there was a meeting spot to get off first at ports.  Just wasn't sure if that was included now.  With the number of platinums there must be on every cruise, it makes sense why it really isn't a benefit.

I have found several ships where the tender benefit is useless.  They don't police who gets in line and on the tender, so as a platinum, we were told to join the back of the line 4 decks up.  1) They should not call enough numbers at once to form a line like that and 2) they should police the numbers if they are going to use them.

Just off the Escape with Platinum status.  We had to pick up luggagee  tags since they were not delivered to our cabin as on other lines.  ONLY Haven passengers get special perks on both ends of a sailing (private seating area in NY terminal with food and beverages).  Platinum gets you nothing with NCL!!!! Yellow tags are not even put out -- you must ask for them and show your card.  You need to get on the long line that goes around the ship to get off as soon as the last self-carry group departs the ship.  No desiginated area for Platinums to sit and wait until you are able to get off.  We waited as close as possible to our departure time to go to deck 7 and sat on chairs in the Casino.  Once in the terminal in NY (at least) we quickly found our luggage since there are not too many Platinum members on board.

Once you reach the equivalent of Platinum status you have a designated waiting area with seats and refreshments.  If there is any delay, at least you are sitting comfortably instead of waiting on a line that winds around the ship with grumbling passengers.

I just got off Escape yesterday nov 11th, and this was not my experience at all and I'm was only gold on this cruise.  Did exactly what I did last time asked a friendly crew member where to go for priority disembark for gold n above they told me five o'clock somewhere lounge same as my last cruise.  We were escorted off thru the cruise quarters and missed that line, it's good for easy walk off or with tags, easy walk off escort was at 730 or with tags 830.  Surprised you didn't get same service as platinum?  Suggest asking at guest services in future maybe?

We had to ask at Guest Services for the yellow tags since they were not put out with the other colors.  No mention by GS of where to wait to get off the ship when they handed us the yellow tags.  I question why they would not tell us at that  point.  Unlike NCL, other lines deliver the correct tags to your cabin along with special instructions on where to wait until your color tag is called.  Normally, we would leave after self carry, the suites/Haven guests and passengers needing special assistance.

Getting an elevator was a real problem!  After about 10 elevators arrived full, we, along with about 8 others, rode up to deck 17 after stopping on every floor and we began the descent again stopping on every floor on the way down to deck 7.  Found seats in the casino as close to the end of the line as possible and waited until yellow tags were called to leave  the ship.  Once again we had to wait to get an elevator in the terminal due to the large number of wheel chairs and baby strollers.

There is no priority disembarkation for Platinum. Only yellow luggage tags. If you got escorted off, you were not suppose to be there.

Whatever the reason, it certainly sounds like you got something that you shouldn't have. Probably a misunderstanding, although it is odd that it happened twice,

For anyone else reading this, I wouldn't expect to have the experience as reported here. As has been stated, no latitudes level should give this, so if you go with the expectation of this happening then you are likely to be disappointed.

That's not to say that it can't happen, as is demonstrated by this persons experience, but it is way above what that tier qualifies you for.

We had yellow tags, and were called right after the walkoffs.  after standing still for about 15 minutes, our line moved and we were in the terminal, gathering our bags.

This was on the Dawn, after disembarking in Boston on November 9th.

Just double checked the rewards page on My NCL and sure enough Gold level gets priority Debarkation. The footnote for that perk says you must get the details from the cruise next/ guest services desk by showing your room card. There are lots of perks where the footnote say to get in you must see the guest services desk.

I also noticed that they have eliminated the switching of restaurants for the dining perk but have included all four of the most popular ones - and that it is now one dinner per stateroom and not per member - on the other hand each member gets a free bag of laundry.

I am looking forward to the shore ex discount coupled with the per port perk on my next cruise.

The changes to the latitudes benefits you are referring to happened almost two years ago now. It isn't just one dinner per stateroom, it is two dinners for two per stateroom (one at Cagneys or Le Bistro and one at Moderno or La Cucina.

As for the priority disembarkation, yes that is stated as a benefit, but what it actually means is that you get luggage tags which are called off before the general tags. That is most certainly the case, and is what people have been receiving for a long time. The experience that the previous poster is reporting is not standard.,

Wow. Thanks for the information. On our next cruise we will be in the Haven but that will still leave us three tier credits short of platinum. I looked on my NCL page to confirm that golds also get priority disembarkation. I think the confusion is because golds don't get priority embarkation. We allways travel light and will just follow the suite guests after showing our gold cards.

All that it involves is for your cabin steward to walk you to the front of the line getting off the ship. You can leave at any time you want. It is not a big deal, and depending on the ship only saves you a few minutes.
