Cagliari- any recommendations besides staying in town?

We have been here years ago and don’t remember much of the town but we wondered if it was worth doing a trip out - anyone been here and done anything they would recommend?

We used this company. The owner, a German expat named Dirk, took us up into the center of the island where we stopped for a cappuccino, drove up into a park and learned a bit about the local flora/fauna,then to a goat farm/agritourisimo where we had a great lunch and heard about the traditional culture, then stopped at a small pocket beach to swim with the locals. There was a food cart at the beach which made a nice late afternoon snack before the drive back to the ship.

 

It was a very nice way to see the island and learn about the culture.

Took a ship's tour to Barumini, which is an old fortification/village. Very interesting, but you need to be quite agile to get inside.

We also took a trip with Dirk - I would highly recommend him. It was the highlight of our cruise.
