Great little things to know about the Escape

Just got off the May 6th cruise. (I will be doing a full review later.) Here are some things to keep in mind while on the Escape.

The carpet outside the cabin corridors have fish on it. The fish are always swimming towards the front.

There is only one elevator in the very front which goes to the 19th floor. Always look above the elevators to see what floor they stop at.

When disembarking, use the front elevators or stairs to get to the 4th deck. If you are in the Aft section, take an elevator to deck 6, 7 or 8 and then walk across to the front to use those elevators or stairs.

For breakfast try the never busy with a great view at Margaritaville. The food for breakfast is free. There is an omelette bar, besides some scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, danishes, yogurt and a few other things. Each time we were there, there were maybe two to four other passengers.

Don't forget to enter in the raffle for dining with the officers. It will be posted in the daily activities. There is only one raffle and you need to register that day by 12.

There is a hot tub, bar and sunning area that is not busy and pretty quiet outside of the vibe on the 19th deck. The bartenders there, Michael and the two Rommels are great. They work the vibe bar but will work that bar also when they are not busy.

If there is only 2 to 4 people in your group and you do not have dinner reservations, go to one of the specialty dining and they can usually get you in.

The first night has always been the best discounted night for liquor purchases.

There is hot coffee and pretty good pastries outside on deck 8 very early in the morning. Great spot.

Great tip. Where exactly on deck eight are the pastries and coffee? We are on deck eight and this could be very convenient.

Taking an elevator to 5 is even better. That hall is basically empty, except people heading to the kids club, or in and out of their cabins. It's a huge, wide hallway.

Hi is the casino really that smoky? We are planning on going to the casino in the evenings and I'm a non smoker.

I was on the Escape last month and I did notice the smoke smell but I didn't think it as that bad. However, the person I was with did make a comment on what is that smell so . . .

The same thing applies when coming back from port. The gangway is on Deck 4 forward. Take the stairs up to deck 5, walk to the forward elevators and take them where you need to go.

It depends on the people on the cruise and how sensitive you are to smoke. There were a fair number of smokers on my cruise and smoke is one of my main asthma triggers so it wasn't pleasant to me (nor the week of meds when I got home blah) . A friend who merely doesn't like smoke gambled less than he normally did as the people on the cruise that smoked happened to like the same games he did and he didn't want to be around it that much.

But there's been people on here who say they are sensitive that had no problem. I'm inclined to believe they lucked out on the clientele that week.

Tip....if you like crepes, it is at the far end station. At the buffet.

We shared one with blueberries and bananas with whipped cream.....hubby doesn’t like crepes but he really liked this one! I think we almost licked the plate clean

Another Little Thing: The best place for sailaway is all the way forward on Deck 19. Beautiful views of Manhattan and the port side then the SOL on the starboard side.

Great tip. You can also go to deck 20 right above the vibe towards the front. Hardly anybody is there.

Also on deck 8 the waterfront district there are lots of nice loungers to relax in.

It's easy to find on one of the outside bars. It's a help-yourself.

Hi first time on Escape and first time on a ship this large. We are on deck 12 midship balcony port side. Which is the least crowded to disembark the ship while in port? I always find that a hassle but if I have a heads up that would be great! Thank you! Did I mention I love these forums ? Always find the best advice and sometimes entertaining! Lol
