Status of Ocean Medallion?

Goofy and company would have a better chance of getting this going.

I used to share an office with a gent who could get a little hot from time to time.

He had a problem with some vendor, and he was screaming in the phone:

Who's running that place --- Mickey Mouse or Donald Duck?

I'm sure Donald Arnold is wondering the same thing...

Interesting artical about Mr. Arnold:

They are still showing cruises on the Regal Princess for later this year as "Ocean Medallion'.

Don't know whether to scratch my head or bust out laughing, or what???

If you saw the info I reported on above, you will see they are looking at putting it on the Regal this summer.

We are on the first sailing on the Ruby princess after the dry dock. I will be interested in seeing what if anything has happened.

From what I heard, you may not see anything. Dry dock was mainly for the wiring as far as ***** goes.

We will be on the Regal in September and expect the ***** to be working the same as it was last December when we were on the Regal. Personally we could care less about *****...but do like the Regal.

The only thing that ticks me off is they only offer 7 day trips.

Couldn't connect late yesterday in Oslo but working fine today at sea retracing our steps south. I'm liking the Regal after the re-design. Glad they did it!

On the TA to Europe the senior staff reported no further work on ***** on Regal until it returns in the Fall. All technicians left behind. They were to spend the Summer working on the Caribbean Princess. If the ***** has not been perfected on it I doubt they will return to Regal until a “fix”has been found.....if there is one. I was on the Caribbean Princess for two weeks, disembarked 6/30 and both weeks had people with ***** shirts on board running around playing with wire and sticking SIM cards in the Soon to one day be interactive screens on the floors by elevators. Tried to make small talk with one of them once and all they said was ‘one day’ with no ETA....

Yes, I have been reading info, that sounds more credible, that there are issues with the systems and satellite operations while the ship is sailing as far North as these Northern Europe itineraries. So, no further work or progress until later this year.

Just understand there is no connection between the "Ocean Medallion" and the "MedallionNet"

systems other than that Marketing gave them similar names.

Well, and that they are both new systems that are having teething problems. :')

Thanks for the update on the Caribbean Princess. It doesn’t seem like the ***** problems are solved. It is also important to keep in mind the point made about two different systems being conflated: the ***** and high speed Internet. Mike

Is the Majestic Medallion ready and operational?

I'm on the Sky shorty FLL inaugural sailing in December 2019, curious if they installed everything on the new builds.

Nope. The only ship with Medallion technology "up and running" is Regal Princess and it's only "working" on maybe a third of the ship. I use the word "working" loosely.

Let me rephrase that. ***** is working (with bugs) throughout the Regal, but (subject to my

faulty memory) only 110 of 1400 cabins are given medallions to use.

But they have only added the ***** door access panels to these 110 cabins so it's not really working throughout the ship.

No on the Majestic. They have some touchscreen panels in the elevator areas and may have the miles of wiring throughout the ship but nothing else has been rolled out - perhaps because it was designed for the Chinese market.

They will probably include the wiring and sensors on the Sky but will have to see if they can fix the bugs on Regal before it gets the full treatment.

Do all of the cabins have the access panels even if they’re covered up on Regal? We were on Caribbean Princess right after its wiring for ***** and it had covered access panels at the cabins. I’m wondering if they just uncover these that are on the Regal if they would be able to access them with the medallion.

We're tripping over semantics.

Remember, it's not just cabin doors. The medallions for those 110 cabins do work in the MDR,

shops, poolside, etc. In fact, the major issue is the problems they have unlocking cabin doors.

I would expect the Sky to have the basic wiring and panels, etc. However, when I call up Sky cruises for Oct-Nov 2019, there is no banner indicating Medallion Preview or Medallion Vacation. Not very promising. :(

No, not when we were on in November for the first and second cruises with Medallion. This could have changed since but this was the panel from our Medallion cabin in November:

And this is the panel outside a non-Medallion cabin on Regal in January - doesn't look the same unless anyone else knows better!

Maybe it does work in bars, shops and the casino etc but they need to prove the cabin doors unlock on ALL decks (not just 3) and not just the mid-forward section :)
