Affordable Travel Journal

Recommended Posts

I am looking for a affordable travel journal for my upcoming river cruise and future trips. I would like to find one with the following features

- Variety of colors for different trips taken

- Small enough to fit all my paper treasures but doesn't take up room in my carry on luggage

- Many pages to write what I have seen experience and to tape special things into it. (not crazy about the graph paper that are included in some options)

- Must have zipper pocket and card slot

I have seen some on Amazon for close to $30 but doesn't have everything and then have to buy additional pages.

Anyone have any ideas where I can find a travel journal with all these feature around $20?

I just noticed a post on Cruising Journals in the Cruise Memorabilia section. That might have some useful ideas.

I always do journals rather than photos, but I use simple, lightweight notebooks, so I can't recommend one with pockets or other features.

I agree on the light weight note books. I have also put loose leaf paper in a folder and used that. When I got home then I would put it in a larger note book with the rest of my travel notes. This way I did not have to carry all my note from other trip with me. And just in case I lost it I would not loose all of my travel note. I would only loose that trip's notes.

There are tons of travel/bullet journal ideas on etsy if you take a look. I do watercolor and want to start doing quick little entries when I travel instead of the countless photos that I take. They are tons of ideas for different papers depending on what your interests are. Also look under midori notebooks.

Good luck to you!

If you are the crafty sort and have a variety of papercrafting supplies, you can easily make your own. I made one for an AK cruise using 4x6" index cards as the pages. I used a heavier kraft board to make the covers, punched holes in everything and held it together with metal rings you can buy at the office supply store. I decorated the cover with a cut out title, inking, ribbon, and other details. I made dividers for each port stop. It was a great way to store all my notes and memories from the trip to use as prompts for my scrapbook journaling later, and it was a neat souvenir on its own. If you made it bigger, you could easily make some pages with pockets.

Levenger makes the Circa notebook which is customizable to your needs with various size rings and paper types. But you can find the dupe to it at Staples for cheaper. Both letter and junior sizes.
