do they do painting classes on Princess, if not what do they do in the way of entertainment (non physical) we have 3 ship days and slightly worried I'll be bored

I have never seen painting classes, it isn't a normal activity. What do passengers do on sea days? Daytime organized activities will probably include:

The very popular trivia quizes, at least twice a day

Bingo, cost involved

Some crafts, usually a small cost involved

Art auctions, large cost to buy, no cost to look

Lectures

What I like to call silly games like, ring the bottle of champagne, drink mixing games, putting contests, and many more.

Lots of people just lounge around the pools in warm weather and even cooler weather

Watch movies either inside or outside

Go to afternoon tea

Gamble at the casino

Cooking Demos with kitchen tours

Cocktail demos

Zumba

There are also talks that are really sales pitches for spa treatments or other things you can purchase. Watch out for these.

There are unhosted card and other games around the ship. Join the roll call to meet with others for this, or just show up at the time and place indicated in the Princess Patter.

Lots of people just sit and read with a cup of coffee or tea by their side

I've never seen a painting class, either. They do have some arts and crafts classes, but it depends on the cruise staff. Sometimes you might find quilling, card making, or decorative box making. Sometimes it also depends on the itinerary - think lei making for cruises to Hawaii and gold nugget bracelets for Alaska. Here's a recent Patter for a sea day in Alaska. It might be helpful so you can see other non-craft activities the ship has going on.

You may also want to share details on your specific ship/itinerary so anyone sailing recently on it can be of assistance.

I've seen passengers out on deck with drawing pads and pencils on a sea day.

We always take along some form of entertainment ourselves.

There is a stitching group get together at 9:30am on sea days on the longer Australian cruises. This is unhosted and is popular.

The ladies just take along knitting or quilt blocks they are working on. We talk about all things to do with needlecraft. It is listed in the Patter for anyone to come along to.

Perhaps you can start a drawing/art get together.

It may depend on the ship. I’ve been on a couple sailings, both in Asia that offered painting classes. On one of the ships, the class was offered by a guest lecturer. The most recent experience was on the Sapphire Princess, but the day I went seemed more like a painting activity versus “class”. Materials for watercolour painting were provided in both cases, and the activity was usually scheduled for about an hour on a sea day.

Was on the Sapphire Princess a few weeks ago and there were a few arts and crafts activities...two watercolor events, card making, and box making. They weren’t really classes but supplied the materials.

We were on Regal this winter, while they did not have a painting class, they had a painting type of game. they had six papers set up to paint on, and each person(there were six people I think) got one minute to paint on the paper. Then they had to move over one paper to the left. There they got another minute to paint. They did this until all six had painted on each paper and they were back to the paper that they started on.

Got off the Crown in April, they had a water color class in the Piazza. As others have stated arts/Crafts most every sea day...origami, card making, quilling, ect. Gone are the days of cross stitch and scrapbook making.

Thank you for your replies, I've never sailed with Princess so that why I asked, I done the watercolour class on P& O and really enjoyed it, I can't do physical and was just looking for an idea of what's on board, I'm not one for sitting round the pool. It's a cruise for Asia :)

my wife has gone to more of a few of those craft sessions...

some have been 'hosted' by Princess where they just come in a put out some kits or materials and you are on your own..

some were actually 'taught' by Princess to help with your 'project'...
