What was your upgrade offer and what did you bid

That’s just the short list...priority embark/disembark, priority to tenders, in suite dining, etc.

That is what I thought Aero777. Don't feel like the Haven perks will be worth it to us then, especially when the cost (for us) is a bit high. Maybe one day. I think for this one we will just spend that extra upgrade money on a few drinks or in the casino. If the haven included some kind of included drinks or other perks that we would use then maybe. Thanks for your reply i just wanted to be sure i wasn't missing something in the fine print.

Just got my upgrade offers for the January 12 Joy sailing (5-day Mexican Riviera). I'm currently booked in a BD balcony as a solo traveler, with the full array of Free At Sea plus a $50/port extra shore excursion credit. I'm actually quite content with my current deck 13 forward balcony but it might be nice to move...

This is what they're offering (prices per person):

  • Haven Deluxe Owner's Suite (H2): $1500-$2985
  • Haven 2-Bedroom Family Villa (H4): $1250-$2750
  • Haven Courtyard Penthouse (H5) or Aft Penhouse (H6): $600-$2000
  • Haven Aft Penthouse (H6): $600-$2000
  • Haven Forward-facing Penthouse (H7), connecting stateroom (H8), or Penthouse Suite (HA, HS): $400-$1500
  • Concierge Family Suite (CA): $350-$1000
  • Concierge Penthouse (CB, CC): $300-$1000
  • Concierge Family Inside (CF): $200-$750
  • Mini-Suite: $25-$400

Okay, I have some questions here. Is Joy concierge really worth the upgrade? If I were going to put in a concierge bid, I might as well go up another $100 for the Haven, right?

On the other hand, mini suites (MA, not Sail Away) are currently priced a little below what I paid for the BD cabin. Should I just call NCL, ask nicely for a free upgrade to MA or at least to a mid-ship BA, and leave it at that?

we are going the jan 12  cruise on joy. we have a BD catergory on deck 15. we got the upgrade offer today as well.  the mini suite is now less than what we paid..except our free at sea offers included airfare. Debating on bidding on a haven room, but not really sure. This is our first cruise.

Tempting, isn’t it? I’ll wait for a longer cruise before bidding on a Haven cabin, though. I called NCL and got a free bump up to a deck 15 mini suite, and that’s good enough for this cruise.

Way too many posts to read lol

When do you get charged for upgrade?

When they accept your bid do they just automatically charge your Credit card? Do you have to confirm the charge ?

How do you find out you won? Email? phone call?

You get charged when they accept your bid -- you don't get the confirm the charge....why would you ? Joking...

They will email to let you know whether your bid was accepted or not, up to 2 days before the cruise but some rooms will be notified sooner.

Heres a question for you guys. Were a week out and I have some strong bids in. I use a Cap One card that I usually keep locked by the app for security reasons. I don’t want to unlock it now if I don’t have to not knowing when and if they will process a bid in the next 5 days, so if they hit the card and its declined because its locked, what will happen? Will they contact me or just move on and throw away and lose my upgrade?

Oddball question I know.

Way way back in this thread, or may have even been a previous version of the thread, there was someone whose card was declined (card info was outdated) and she was contacted and did have a chance to give new card info, but I don't know if that is still the practice. I would definitely be sure the transaction was going to go through the first time and not risk it.

Does NCL award upgrades on weekends or weekdays only when office staff is present?

First it's not run by ncl, second based on reading these threads, and winning all 4 of my upgrades no, it's Monday thru Friday, eastern standard time from 800am or so on, enjoy your cruise

Depending on your Haven room, drinks ARE included. We had a DOS on the Jade, and we were given 1 full bottle of liquor and unlimited cans of soda and bottles of water free of charge. So if we didn't have the drink package, we could prepare our own drinks in the room for free.

Our first experience with Haven was 50/50. The courtyard and pool, concierge services, and priority disembarking at ports and final destination were worth it to us. I could do without the butler.... if they had an option for a pass to the courtyard/pool area, I would easily pay for that access in lieu of the butler service.

Just won my bid, Norwegian Encore 11/2, cheapest MC mini suite to H8 Haven. Excellent bid. Good luck everyone!

Mind me asking what it was? We're on Encore Jan 19th sailing... And focussed on H8... 😉 From a MA Mini-suite...

Bid was in the excellent range on the bid meter.

What does this mean and how do I find the bid meter?

When you bid, there is a meter to the right of your bid that will tell you where your bid lies....poor to "might as well have paid directly for the room"

Not always grasshopper. We saved over 3k  bidding high versus upgrading directly at the last posted price before bookings ceased a month ago.

Just got back from my cruise. I didn't win the upgrade offer but never got an email advising the offer was declined so wasn't sure of the outcome until check in. We were happy with our cabin but surprised they didn't notify us at all.

Firepath, unfortunate you didn't receive an email, that is the norm but glad you were happy with your original stateroom.

For those waiting for confirmation whether your bids have been accepted or not, IMO, the only sure fire way of knowing one way or the other is to check your credit card.  If your card hasn't been charged 2 days prior to sailing, you didn't win your bid.

I was only kidding -- of course, you can save on a bid (what's the point if you don't).

Trying to decide if I should up my bid or not.  Does anyone know if they accept all bids if space permits or is the formula based on some revenue management approach like airlines (eg they’d rather have business class go empty than to have it be too cheapened and prevent losing future sales)?

The reason I ask is we are on the 12/16 sailing of Sky and it seems this isn’t likely to be sold out, so the chances of being successful with a half decent bid I suspect are good.  Unfortunately I don’t really understand their system and wondering the real chances.  I’d call and pay the difference if a really poor chance, but willing to take the risk if I have a half decent chance.

Booked an ultra cheap inside, looking to upgrade to balcony.
