What was your upgrade offer and what did you bid

Sorry if I have missed the answer to this in the thread... we are taking our first NCL cruise next month and are new to the bidding ... invited to bid last week and bid on 3 different upgrades. Today, we received notification that one of them was accepted😀 however, we have since decided that we would really like this be of the other upgrades ...

As noted above, it is definitive and final, sorry, it's perhaps not the answer you are hoping for but it is spelled out in writing in the FAQ, link directly on the Upgrade "How It Works" page -

No, once your bid is accepted, your card will be charged immediately, and the upgrade amount paid is final and non-refundable.

https://www.ncl.com/content/upgrade-advantage-faq

Your credit card has been charged (refer to FAQ for details) ... all these are part of the terms & conditions. Could've changed your mind during the past week while is was still pending to cancel, change or raise the bids, etc. but now that it's "processing" and/or "upgraded" with the newly assigned GTY stateroom ...

Thanks! We had placed bids on a few offers, I’m happy one of them was accepted!

Sailing on the Getaway next week. Just got awarded an upgrade from a Balcony (BC) to a Haven Penthouse (H5). Bid $1010 which was squarely in the Fair category. Feeling pretty pumped, I think I saved at least 50%. Especially since the balcony was comped by Casino at Sea.

Congratulations!!! I too am on CAS, but I go the 13th on the Getaway! Have a great trip and bring her back ready for our group!

Does anyone think that printing put your edocs for your current cabin, impacts in any way your chance of getting an upgrade on your bids? Thinking that they may feel that you are satisfied with the cabin you have. Has anyone printed edocs and have their bids go through. I do understand when you get down to the last few days before sailing, you would have to print them. Just wondering if all you wiser and more experienced feel it makes a difference?

While I don't know for sure I highly doubt printing your edocs would affect it. It is all about money one way or another and the end goal is to maximize NCL revenue, not customer satisfaction.

Definitely not. First of all, they would have no way of knowing whether your PRINTED your eDocs. At best they would know whether you had clicked the link to view your eDocs. Second of all, the upgrade processing is done by a third-party company called PlusGrade. A lot of information gets submitted to PlusGrade at the time that you place your bid, but nothing new would be submitted to them at all unless you changed your bid, and even then, I have reviewed the code behind that transaction and there is definitely no flag for whether someone has viewed their eDocs or not.

Thanks Molole and Jamie. Just what I thought. There is so much information about bidding, that I wanted to ask first. This is one of my favorite threads here. Everyone is so very helpful!!!

No problem! I love this thread too. It's a lot of fun for me to try to figure this whole thing out and we are definitely still a long way off, because every time we think we've identified some patterns, NCL and PlusGrade throw us a curve ball!

I sure hope my mom gets upgraded. I don't understand the reasoning behind assigning her (a single cruiser) an inside cabin for 4 people.... while this type of cabins is sold out.

NCL could be making 2x more for this cabin RIGHT NOW.

Maybe, NCL figures, they could take her $50 bid offering for OV, and only then resell her cabin for twice as much. But if they don't do it right now, they may only have $50 in hand and lost revenue from 4 customers because NCL waited too long?

I am weighing all the pros and cons, that's why I am asking the more knowledgeable people. :) I have studied the deck plans as well.

It appears that all that's left for 3 people is balconies on deck 8 forward. Not very desirable, even though I usually think that a balcony is always better than inside. I am not so sure I'd want a balcony on deck 8 forward, because of numerous noise reports. On one hand, I'd love a balcony, on the other hand - if we can't sleep at night because of the mechanical noise, then I don't want a balcony.

We were in the inside guarantee on deck 11 right under the buffet and got upgraded (free) to OV on deck 5. My poor mom just got assigned 8003, most forward inside.

What us available to book currently now is not the determining factor in what you may or may not get as an upgrade.

This is the first thread I check everyday. I see some upgrades were awarded for October 27, but not for the Gem that I've seen. Last year we got our upgrade 24 days out so I was really hoping to have that again and find out yesterday. Waiting really is the worst part! ;p

Question, if I book an Oceanview and then get upgraded to a MS, can I then rebid on a haven?

No. Once your bid is accepted, it is final. You will no longer have access to the bidding system.

Edit: If you call NCL and actually do a full, direct upgrade prior to your bid being accepted, you would be able to bid on a Haven. But not if you are upgraded through the Upgrade Advantage Program.

Ok done and ms assigned. When will I be able to bid? The screen still says balcony’s and mini suites...

Thanks again.

Has anyone NOT been invited to bid for a room? I booked a Oceanview Guarantee and got assigned a room. It's 31 days out and still have received anything about bidding for an upgraded room. When I checked the cruise, there's still lots of rooms available.

First time NCL cruiser. I have a mid ship balcony room on deck 10 on the Sun. Not sure if I can get anything better. Maybe a mini suite? How much should I bid? I guess room could be any deck anywhere?

I like where I am now, would prefer a lower deck for less motion. And would a mini suite have a larger bathroom?

Sometimes you do not receive an email, but see the "Let's Get You Upgraded ad when logging into My NCL. If you booked through a TA, it is possible they don't participate in the Upgrade Advantage Program.

If you filed or saved your email upgraded request you can check back and see if the bids have been processed.

Find that email open it and click on the highlighted (blue) modify/cancel a new window will open and it may

show EXPIRED meaning that your bid was not successful and that bids for that cabin class have been filled.

If you don't see something on that order and are still 2 days away from sailing you may still be in the running.

If you win your bid - you almost immediately will see an email draining your credit card account the amount

of your winning bid. That email will direct you to check your Edocs for the upgraded cabin number.

If you took out insurance for your cruise and the upgrade moved you into a more expensive class/category

you may be owing a token increase of the insurance premium.

If your bid wins remember when checking your new Edocs over to print the NEW LUGGAGE TAGS with

the new cabin number and discard the old cabin luggage tags.

what dou you think ? Makes it sence to increase the bids if nothing happens ? our bids from 2 weeks ago are still "in process".

We bidded from Balkony midship to spa balcony on getaway 10/21....(litlle bit more than poor range).

The VAST majority of bids on a sailing are processed all at once. There is speculation that for some categories on some sailings, there is an "auto-accept threshold" of some sort where if your bid is high enough, it will get automatically accepted within 24 hours of placing it. But typically speaking, raising your bid will not speed up acceptance. It will be processed at the same time as all the others on the sailing.
