Latitudes Program

Recommended Posts

We have enjoyed NCL and actually have 2 additional cruises booked with them however we have found a couple of other cruises we may enjoy with other company's. Can we get any status with them by transferring our latitudes points to them?

NCL Latitude Points are not even transferable between members of the family.

If they were my wife could transfer to me so I would be Ambassador and she could start again!!! Then I could transfer all my future points to her!!!! VVBG

Yes... NCL I sure you do actually monitor this board so WAKE UP! If you enable reciprocity within your own brands, you are less likely to lose folks moving up to other luxury lines. Oh and MSC YC looks damned good too... so stay awake!

It is. (y)

NCL should go one step further and give Haven guests info on Oceania and Regent SS while guests are in the Haven....even allow booking for those 2.

Agreed 100%, massive missed opportunity... Maybe they should ask the people in the Spa "how do we run a more effective upsell business?" ;pThose ladies would move the NCLH share price up overnight!

So true, I am a loyal NCL cruiser but got status match (Black) with MSC and booked the Yacht club which offers more than the haven (they include their thermal spa) cheaper gratuities at a little over $2000 per person which is way less than the Haven. I haven’t sailed yet so I will have to wait and see. Also booked Viking ocean to Cuba for February. Small luxury ship no casino and shows but they spend 3.5 days in 2 cities in Cuba and not much more in price. I agree NCL Is missing an opportunity as well. If theses two go well, I’ve got some cruise next coupons for sale.

Please give us a review of "MSC YC from a Freestylers perspective" when you do... I will be very interested to hear what you think, particularly of the dining options/freedoms.

Yacht Club dining IS freestyle. Other than the specialty restaurants, you eat whenever you are hungry.

Good to know, TY. We tend to eat in a different specialty restaurant each night and then rotate... since you have experienced it; do you find the YC menu reasonably varied also (or can one order 'in' from the other onboard menus)? Kinda wanting to stay 'freestyle' that respect...

Guest I am the Onion

The more NCL talks about their loyalty program, the worse it gets. No more ships’ pins. No more double nights for booking 9 months out. Dining vouchers are now per cabin, not per person.

If another line sailed year round from NY, I’d be on them, except Carnival.

YC menu is actually better than Haven IMO. It has a set menu plus different items each night.

I have some pics of food from our trip in August on Divinia.

That's a great post thank you for the link... love the emphasis on food and it does indeed look very good indeed! We have a couple of NCL trips booked but I sense a foray into the world of MSC on theYC horizon, hard to beat the value.

I still don't get what the problem is with this. Previously is was one meal per person, now it is two per cabin (more if there are more than 2 platinums in the room). Basically the same thing, or extra if there is just one platinum in a room.

The places you can use them has changed (and may be better or worse depending on personal opinion), but the number of meals has not reduced.

Just the addition of Cagney's is a huge plus for me.

The meals are a nice Perk, I’m disappointed in the loss of double points 9 mos out. I booked 12 mos out and the next month it ended up being a Lattitudes cruise and I couldn’t get the double points because you had to book during the lattitudes period. I could have cancelled and rebooked buy why make your customer do that? That was always a huge incentive for me to bilk so I could reach the next level. I may make Platinum Plus but the next level is never going to happen especially if MSC and Viking Ocean are winners.

Oh I forgot, now that I’m on a rant - why can’t I get a bottle of wine instead of the bubbly that they give to all levels!

Apple juice? Now that’s something to think about, my SIL mixes hers with orange juice. I guess I shouldn’t complain about the wine I always get the drink package perk. Is just one of those annoying things. Thanks for the tip.

I have what might be basic question and I searched, but this was the closest conversationto what I wanted to ask. This winter is my first cruise as a platinum. For the two free meals, do I just book the restaurant and then on the ship tell them I want to use my plat perk that night? I'm thinking of doing Moderno and Le Bistro, but I think when I make the reservation online they are going to ask me to pay then and I wasn't sure how this works. Thanks in advance for any advice on this!

Basically, yes you make your booking and then tell them when you arrive that you want to use your platinum voucher.

You can book before the cruise, but wanting Moderno is a complication.

I’m assuming you don’t have the dining package. If that is the case, the system will charge you when you book Moderno, as it has a fixed charge. I’d wait until boarding and book that soon after you get onboard.

You can book Le Bistro in advance of the cruise, as there is no upfront charge for the a la carte places.

If you have the dining package then you can prebook Moderno before the cruise. Just make sure you book it (and any others with a fixed charge) first.

The link in my signature may help, although it was written when the old rules applied.

When you walk up to the podium at the restaurant you should tell the clerk/greeter that you have the Platinum "coupon" and give it to him/her. Le Bistro is a la carte so you wouldn't pay online. Moderno you would have to pay on booking and they would then put OBC onto your folio after the meal.

Thanks so much - this was very helpful!

I'm doing the Escape and I'm torn about doing the meal plan. I don't think I can use it at FR and Bayamo the way I used to use as a base with an upcharge at Ocean Blue on the Breakaway, and since I have the two free meals. I'm thinking of doing the rest without the package and just charging to my cabin.

If you know you are going to go to the following:

  • Ocean Blue - $10 USD
  • Bayamo - $10 USD
  • Cirque Dreams/Illusionarium - $10 USD regular seats/$15 USD premium seats/$35 USD VIP seating on Breakaway
  • Sushi -$7 USD
  • Raw Bar - $7 USD (Seafood Platter not included)
  • Pincho Tapas Bar - $7 USD

I would still buy the package and pay the uncharge. Ala carte meals can be pretty expensive without it, a lot more that the up-charge plus the meal plan cost. I figure the meal plan value per meal is around $25 and if you add the uncharge you get a full meal as opposed to just an entree that could be as much as that especially in Bayamo or Ocean Blue. Or at least check the menu prices and then decide. I always get the 3 meal package as a perk or pay for it. That way I get 5 meals on a 7 day cruise. IMHO
