Royal Caribbean Fights Back!

Recommended Posts

Yes, but according to the portion of the cruise statement you posted earlier it says 2 crewmembers went to the room to look for George after finding Jennifer. Security had been alerted of her finding but it doesn't actually say it was security going to the room the second time.

There statement doesn't indicate it was security, however the neighbor MR. Lawyer said it was.

Here is a statement from cruise news where RCI is busting the myths that are out there. This one does say it was security who went to the cabin looking for assistance with Jennifer.

I'm guessing it may not have been the same security officers responding to the noise complaint though. Perhaps if it were the same officers a red flag might have been raised????

"Shortly after 4:30 a.m., Mrs. Hagel Smith was found sleeping elsewhere on the ship.

While ship personnel remained with Mrs. Smith, two security guards went to her cabin to see if anyone was there to assist in her return. They looked inside the cabin, found it empty and saw nothing amiss.

These crew members observed no blood or sign of a struggle in the cabin.

Mrs. Hagel Smith was taken back to her cabin by two security guards and a female supervisor."

This is from RCCL statement

(two crewmembers went to her cabin at 4:48 a.m)

Interesting, and I also read somewhere that it was the same two security people.

I missed this post where you say you read it was the same two people!

Not doubting what you are saying, but we know that security went to their cabin about the noise report at around 4:30, and within minutes she is found on the same deck on the other side on the ship, assuming the security personnel have radios I would almost bet that it was the same two. But your right there is no mention if it was the same two.

Has it been stated conclusively that George did not win in the casino or has it been added to the list of things no one is confirming yet?

I have seen speculation in both directions. But nothing from any party that would know for sure.

I believe when Wright was on Greta's show the other night, he specifically said it was different security responding to the 2 separate incidents. I'm going to see if I can find the transcript, although I think someone else said it wouldn't be available until Monday.

Shirley, they are right nothing will be available until Monday and since Monday is a holiday maybe Tuesday. However, unless I haven't found it yet, Greta's shows don't usually have transcripts. Sometimes but not on a regular basis. She may have a summary on her blog but it's not usually word for word.

Now I wish I had taped Greta and watched Monk!

Thanks Ken. I seemed to remember Berger hedging on that one on Greta's show but wasn't positive.

I was just looking around the Fox News website and see what you mean. Well, maybe corona will be able to clear up some of the mystery with her Tivo access to the show. Now I wish I had taped it too.

I did tape Greta's show and I believe Captain Wright said it was two different sercurity personal that responded. I will have to watch it again.

I will check to see if they said anything about money.

I do have a question though. Can anyone tell me if the deputy police chief who was next door and called in the parting noise complained, heard the thud noise outside before or after he saw the three people leave the Smith's cabin.

We DVR'ed the Greta show. What exact point are you looking for? That the same security guards handled both visits to the cabin?

Will check and answer later.

Terri23 It should be the Smith's who shut up and wait for the FBI to say what they think. Royal Caribbean took all the misinformation long enough. they are not looking to good to alot of the public right now. For Jennifer to go on Oprah now with the public know where she was found is stupid.

I think the only way for the Smith's to find out the true answers were to keep this in the public. If they had not done so we may never know the answers, not saying we will, but due to were it happened, and all and the limited FBI in that area. This comment is in no way going against RCCL.

Hey all. We recorded Greta and have watched it a couple of times. I believe that it was different security officers on the two visits. The first visit was to investigate the noise complaint and they did NOT enter the cabin. I do believe that the cop reported more voices and noises after that visit, then the thud. He indicated that it was quiet after that. The second visit was when they were trying to locate someone in the cabin to assist with JHS. They DID enter the cabin and the staff captain said the bathroom was checked. "They said hello, checked the water closet and left".

He said the balcony was closed and did not indicate that it was checked. I assumed from this that it was not.

Although it is a little confusing, if you look at the different interviews with the cop, it appears as though GS and his buddies may actually have still been in the cabin when security got there the first time and did not enter. Obviously, everyone was gone by the second visit unless someone was hiding. I am not really advocating the hiding theory; I am just saying it was possible.

I am total agreement, per one of my previous posts that the time period between 4:05 (noise compliant called in per RCI records) and 4:58 when JHS was placed in the room is the critical time. Actually up until 4:48 am is the critical time since that is when security entered the room. In those 42 minutes, we have two visits by security, an argument on the balcony, a possible fight, three guys leaving the room, and the infamous thud.

Ok the time line from several sources have been close, approx 4:15 officer see three leave room, after that there is still some noise including on the balcony, approx, 4:20 there was the dreaded thud. The first security people did not arrive until approx 4:30 and did not enter room, around this same time GHS was found, and security returned to room and entered at if I remember right 4:40 some thing.

Shortly after 4:30 a.m., Mrs. Hagel Smith was found sleeping on the floor of a corridor on the other side of the ship and a significant distance from her cabin. Security was notified and arrived shortly thereafter. As several ship personnel remained with Mrs. Smith, two crewmembers went to her cabin at 4:48 a.m. to see if anyone was there to assist in her return. They knocked and, not getting a response, looked inside the cabin, found it empty and saw nothing amiss. While the crewmembers were still outside the Smith cabin, the guest in the other adjoining cabin looked out his cabin door, complained about the earlier noise, and reportedly advised crewmembers to enter the cabin. However, they had already opened the door and seen nothing amiss.

Mrs. Hagel Smith was taken back to her cabin by wheelchair at 4:57 a.m. by two security guards and a female supervisor. She was placed on top of her bed and asked if she was all right. She answered that she was okay, and the security personnel left the room. George Smith was not present, and nothing appeared amiss.

***************************************************************

This is from the RCCL statement. It says crewmembers went to the cabin to try to find George, and that security actually ended up bringing her back.

I beleive from reading this statement that this statement is not clear in describing who the neighbors spoke with, security or crewmembers. While crewmembers can be a catch-all phase, in this portion the release does seem to parse out specifically that security arrived when they found her, and that security took her to the cabin, but that crewmembers knocked on the door and spoke with the neighbor.

I wonder, did Security ever actually respond to the noise complaint? I am guessing security would be assigned to particular areas and it seems likely that any of the security team working that particular shift would have had some common knowledge about calls that were coming in and events that were occuring.
