Royal Caribbean Fights Back!

Recommended Posts

I was on our big thread at 9AM yeserday and by 10AM it was gone. Close to 1300 posts all very informative. Why it was taken off confuses me. No word to questions on why by many of us. Titled : "Missing Honeymooner"

I think maybe this thread may have a little life in it because LauraS started it. Thanks for the link and info LauraS!

MACOP,

Did you watch a different Greta show than I did? There is a lot of info in your post which was not in the broadcast that I saw. Re-watching it now on Tivo to see if I am just dense or something.

If you are combining things you know from other sources, with the Greta broadcast, can you elaborate which is which?

Few questions..

JHS was taken back to her cabin at 4am. Is that correct?

What time did GS get back to his cabin with the 3-4 guys?

What was their relationship? Were they buddies in the casino? If the casino was closed at midnight, then where was this group after the casino?

What was the cabin number of the 3-4 guys? Were they all on the same deck?

I also am convinced it was an accident...yet, I tend to agree as well that there must be more than meets the eye given the $$$ that the FBI is allocating to continue their investigation....

I think with the number of events thay have been cropping up and that the cruise ship industry is being questioned in congress, the FBI is taking a more active interest in this event, and may as well for others in the future. I think the timing of so much involvement is just starting here with this case.

No, about 4:48

About 4:05

They wers in the VC lounge after the casino. Wright said last night that jennifer left there at 3:30 am, but that the lounge had stopped serving drinks, I think like at 2-2:30? I'd have to watch it again to be sure.

Not sure where the other guy's cabins were.....

The only thing I didn't like about the show last night was, the way it was structured. That producer should be fired.

Right in the middle of the show, she has to stop and talk about some other news story? Then a awkward segue back into the RCI story. Then, at the end, no closing or anything, just right on to another story? Also, all of their photos of J&G were horrible. Resized to a blur........really bad in my mind. But I love Greta, and have had a lot of respect for her all the way back to when she was on CNN.

She really was nice, but digging last night.

I wouldn't get too hung up on the FBI still investigating and not allowing information to be freely shared. I have a friend who works in forensics and she told me that is pretty much standard operating procedure. They really like to remain tight lipped until they know for certain the cause--accidental or intentional.

I'm still going with accidental. People can get into so much trouble when they get intoxicated to the point reported by witnesses. You just are not in control of yourself and anything can happen. And I think it may have been witnessed by one of the boys, or maybe by Jen (although I don't think so) and there was panic and so the air of a cover-up. Of course, I am just speculating.

So to me it sounds like JHS left the lounge and took the elevator to deck 9, make a differnt turn and was found in the hallway.

If thre timing is right on the money, it seems that she was not back in her cabin (via the wheelchair method) until after GS and the 3-4 others were.

New question, were JHS and GS together at any point after the casino kick in the groin or was that the last time they saw each other?

In a nutshell, someone was not playing nice on that thread and the whole thing got yanked. Very disappointing, but unfortunately all we can do is move on to here as it would seem the offending posts will not be weeded out and the thread restored.

MACOP, Not trying to start a fight, but there is a good deal in your post that was not in the Greta broadcast. Although it may all be accurate, it was not in the same report. As far as a direct mention of Josh, you are correct, there was none. I made the assumption that he was the person Marie referred to because it has been previously reported that he was the one who asked about the blood on the ship, and because it is a matter of record that Josh is the one who was questioned by the police. His father taped it. I stand by my statement and do not dispute yours.

Not from what I've read on the old thread. If memory serves, she kicked GS and left the bar with the casino manager, but that doesn't jive with what Wright said on Greta last night. Anyone else?

Gretta did a good job last evening. RCCL has sure opened up haven't they?

I think my score would be close to corona's, not knowing when the 4th drinking buddy left is a big open issue.

I keep thinking of a jury I was on a few years ago..cap murder. Has some resemblence, as the young man was killed by a couple of drinking buddies that he had just met. Killed in his home 'cuase the perps thought he had money...which he did not...they got some elctronic toys is all. That still haunts me and how quickly and for no reason someone can kill you....

But in this situation, I still lean towards DH falling over. Tragic.

It may have contained some of the same posts? But rule of thumb is and many can say the same if something goes poof gone, it is better not to ask, lol.

I am still drilling down...who was Josh?

I can't remember his last name, but he was the kid from California who hooked up with the Smiths. I think it was stated that the Smiths and his family shared a cab tour in one of the ports? He was the one interviewed by the Turkish police.

See ya later, gotta go to work.

You know, this is a very tight timeline here, with not much time in between some very important events. By my count, the noise complaint was placed at 4:05, so they must have been in the room for at least a little while at that point in order for the neighbor(cop) to get sufficiently annoyed to place the call. The cop said there was more noise after that, maybe as much as 30-40 minutes worth, and then the thud. JHS was wheeled into the room at 5:00 AM, so a lot happened between 4:05 and 5:00.

Apparently, these guys had met earlier in the week and had been hanging out some since. They all left the casino together along with at least one casino employee, according to reports. They went to the disco in the Crown and continued to party. This is where the argument between GS and JHS, and the reported groin kick occured. Some stories have JHS stumbling out of the disco alone while GS stayed and continued drinking with the guys. Other stories have her leaving with the casino employee, although that my be the less believable of the two. I am thinking that this story is attributed to Josh, but I am not certain. RCI's version is that she was in the elevator alone after the disco. RCI also states that 4 men accompanied GS back to his room. Only 3 were witnessed leaving, but MACOP states that one of them may have left previous to the other 3, and that may be true. It would certanly make more sense that way.

carona thinks that they stopped serving drinks at this time. These bars do close at night and that sounds like a reasonable timeline from my recollections of closings on the ships.

I am still not clear where JHS did the kicking. I thought it was the casino, others think it was the lounge. If it was the casino, I can imagine the casino manager would escort her out, nothing off color there in him doing that if that's what it was, and we don't know much more about that.

Is it possible that after the lounge stopped serving and quieted down that GS brought his buddies back to his cabin for a few more drinks. I beleive the photos indicate there were several bottle of liquor in his cabin. Is it possible that they were drinking it up, perhaps lounder than they should have, ergo the noise complaint?

Pirate, agreed, if was established that the 4th guy left before the other 3, then that is why the cop only saw three men leaving. That would place GS in the cabin alone and the "talking to himself" (cop reports a single male voice and drawers slamming, etc. AFTER the 3 leave) and falling overboard alone theory makes a lot of sense.

The only thing then is why everyone's stories are in such conflict. It does seem as if some covering up is going on. As I stated earlier, that could be because someone (s?) were aware of the accident and do not want it to be found out that they did not report it. That would be very lame, but none of these folks seem like rocket scientists.

Given today's information, I am now back to 50/50 accident vs. foul play. I am 100% on the stupidity of all involved, however.

I don't know how anyone can hear drawers slamming in another cabin. They are so darn tight in their tracks, maybe a bathroom door, that thing is a bit more unruly.

One personal thing for me to address first, just so everyone knows(I think most do already)I am a female.(someone asked me recently) I will be putting up a pic, for as long as I can stand to look at it anyway, LOL. Not that that has anything to do with my opinion....

The staff captain said that the bar was closed when she left, but that there were still people in there. Maybe George and the guys were still there too for at least 1/2 hour. I'd have to go back and read the transcripts as to where the kick happened.

The drawers were on the same wall as the bed in the other cabin. If enough force is used it could be noisy. Interestingly enough, that is the one thing Wright did not do when showing Greta the room.

They weren't. The bed in the other cabin was on the opposite wall.

FC, I tend to agree. However, that is the way the guy described it in his interview with Greta. I do notice that this man tends to be very specific in drawing conclusions about what he hears. For example, he distinctly describes "drinking games" as what was going on before he called security. He says smoething to the effect "there was a raising of voices as if to encourage the doing of shots or chugging of beers". He also describes a heated argumant later on the balcony, although he says he cannot hear exact words in either case. He is a police officer, so maybe he is more finely tuned to listen for clues than the average person. He does seem to read a lot into things, though. There is always the possibility that he is misinterpreting what he heard.
