Am really looking forward to the new Mama Mia coming out this weekend. But there is so much already planned for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, we may have to wait. Not sure I can stand to wait. It looks terrific.

Off on Tuesday for a bus trip to my favorite Casino. Know we will only be there for 6 hours but I can win plenty in that time period.

That looks like a memorable trip Bob. Probably no place to play golf though.

Abba did some great music Ann. Hope you win too much money to carry home. I have a couple luncheons this week. Our fellow retiree's lunch and our neighborhood friends we grew up with meet a couple times a year. I was going to take my sister down to our Motor Vehicle office this morning but they are filming a TV show all week an have a lot of roads blocked off. Maybe I'll end up in the show.

Yes, try to get filmed as then they have to pay you. A little casino $$$ would not hurt.

Hi all!

This is the 2nd thread I'm on that has been closed recently. It is good to chat with old friends!

I hate how quickly some roll calls end.:(

Bob ~ quite the nice retirement present!(y) You'll get to enjoy the cooler weather you always long for.

Ann:cool: ~ I wasn't sure about seeing that movie but think I will. I do like ABBA music.

Hope this trip you'll need the Brinks truck to carry home your winnings!

I did Las Caletas one time in PV which is rhythm of the night during the day. I enjoyed our time there & the boat ride over.

I see you've been to Iceland a few times. What will you do there this time?

I'd love to go back as I just spent a day & a half there after my Baltic cruise last year so only did the Golden Circle Tour.

Grandpaul ~ better to get in the movie than a crime scene!!

There was just a list published of the places in Canada with the most crimes & #1 was a place in Saskatchewan we found really sketchy!

I just booked my flight to Newfoundland to go visit DD#1 in early September. Always nice to have something to look forward to! I'm really looking forward to my cruise in 2616 hours.

Have a nice day & stay safe!

Jo, always great to have a cruise booked. And it slows time down waiting for it to arrive. Had an interesting day today. Left my sister off and was driving home and I lost my brakes while on a highway. Long story short I got the car to my mechanic and it took him 5 hours to fix. A lot after than the 65 days for the other car to get fixed.

Well, that is really scary. Can you get Fed X to pay for those too due to the car not being used for such a long time. Hope you are good and no more crashes.

Jo,

Glad you decided to go to the Mama Mia movie. I think it will be really good. Cher plays Meryl Strep's mother in the movie. Should be a hoot.

And no, I have never been to Iceland in the past. That is why I am going on this cruse as finally there will be some new ports I have never been to.

Should be a fun visit to your DD#1.

And alas, I did not win today. Should not have stopped for lunch as I was doing great and then friends wanted lunch. Oh well, we all had a great time.

That would be an incredible retirement present to yourself. I am very jealous. But good for you as you work so much OT' date=' you deserve it.[/size']

Thanks Ann:). I sure have some decisions to make though. Scenic's deposit is non refundable with only a portion being able to be transferred. Seabourn requires a sizable deposit (25%) which is similar to Scenic's amount. The one good thing about Seabourn is more than 140 days prior to the sailing the deposit is fully refundable. One additional good thing about Seabourn is for just a tad more than Scenic's 12 day itinerary you get 21 days on Seabourn. Downside would be getting Holli to agree to another long cruise shortly after returning from the Sky cruise.....

Bob, just don't tell her how long the cruise is. LOL. Just talked to our son down on Long Island. The Father of the twin Granddaughters. They are packing their bags to head up here for a few days and spend some time with their cousins. They are a little anxious. And so are we.

I believe I mentioned they have blocked off a couple lanes on a highway highway downtown to fill some scenes for a TV series. Supposed to end today. Had an interesting development happen yesterday. A tractor trailer went by and lost control and tipped over and spilled all its' contents all over the highway. Will probably make a good scene in the movie.

Depending on what the trailer's contents were, it could be real interesting.....:D:D:D

Usually means a huge traffic tie-up especially if it is out here in S. CA on one of he already crowded freeways.

Just found out that Vince Vaughan is filming a movie here in my very small little town also. The Improv Comedy Club in our town moved from one location to another much larger and improved location actually one block away. They are using the old Improv to shoot many of the scenes as well as our downtown area. Will probably go see the movie just to see what they filmed around town.

Happy weekend all.

HI all!

Ann:cool: ~ oh sorry, I must have been looking at Bob's signature to see previous cruises to Iceland.

I went there last year after my Baltic cruise & wished I'd spent one more day. I was looking for a cruise going there & to St John's to see my DD but then figured it'd probably be better & cheaper to just go there on a land trip.. I was looking at a combo pack for a few nights & the price isn't bad so maybe next Sept. I'll go back to Iceleand.

Grandpaul ~ what was the contents the truck spewed all over the highway?

Bob ~ decisions, decisions! 21 days is about 7 more than I'd like to cruise! I can't take too much of a good thing!:o

I had a nice Thursday as a group of 7 of us went to an English tearoom. The surroundings are lovely, the food good but the service was way too slow! Have a couple of things planned for the weekend, another Christmas in July meal & a concert to raise funds to help cover the cost of fixing 200 gravestones that 2 vandals toppled. They caught the kids, 15 & 16 so names can't be published! :(

Have a nice weekend, going to be another hot one here so glad I won't be the one cooking a turkey!!

~ Jo ~ :)

Ann;

It's not on Silversea. Trying to decide between Scenic & Seabourn. Lot of factors work out with the most important being Holli's health and what it will be a year or two from now.....:):):)

Bob,

Unfortunately, health issues can occur in any of us tomorrow or any time. And fortunately, most cruise lines let you cancel from 60 to 90 days in advance due to health issues.

Tough decision but I am sure you have taken all factors into account.

Just a warning. The Granddaughters are on their way to our summer camp for our get together this weekend. So if you hear a loud noise that's what's causing it.

Big country/Western night at the Clubhouse tonight. Music and someone is even going to try to teach us to square dance. Should be interesting and fun.

Great night at the pool last night, swimming and then out of the pool for KFC Chicken and sides. Then wine and talking under the stars. Great fun, great people, great friends.

Mama Mia is going to wait until next weekend as several could not go yesterday.

Swimming and a Birthday party for one of the guys tomorrow.

Send it our way please. We are to have high 90's all next week. And we need the rain so badly.

No worries Jo about looking at Bob's cruises vs. mine. This will be my first trip to Iceland and that is why I chose this itinerary as we get 3 days in the various Iceland ports. I am sure I will want to go back many times but it is so far away.

The tearoom sounds delightful. Love to go to tea withe the ladies. Enjoy that Christmas in July meal. Sounds yummy.

Heating up out here this weekend and next week also.

Take care.

I would love to Ann. We had a very enjoyable day with the Granddaughters. Oh, and their parents too. They started their fishing contest. We had a gang of 25 people sonf we exchanged more than a few stories.
