Concierge on the Grand Classica

Recommended Posts

I’ve sailed on the Grand Celebration many times and had the Concierge package. The Celebration does that package very well. Has anyone that sailed on the Classica had their Concierge package? Were the suites comparable to the Celebration Veranda suites? I’ve seen pictures of the Classica balcony suites and the bathrooms look beautiful but the suite itself looks kind of shabby compared to the Celebration. Please advise what your thoughts are. TIA

I did two cruises booked through URComped, in a full suite, Concierge Club, I liked it with one exception. I really did not like the Concierge Host, who would not stop bugging me at EVERY meal and was borderline useless. I have been told, that the host is much better on Celebration.

It is great to be first o the ship and taken directly to the Customs Officers, when the cruise is done! The suite is fantastic, the best I have done, in 20 cruises. Lots of real wood and Italian handmade tapastry on the wall. Outstanding marble bathrooms, solid mahogany desk, lots of closet space, large balcony, etc. I would do a world cruise on Classica, if it was still offered.

This is truly an outstanding ship, which cost over $250,000,000 in around 1991, which was the most expensive cruise ship ever built. She is an Italian masterpiece, with a great Italian chef, who bakes real Italian pizza! I love the ship, but less so, the strange passenger mix. But at least the casino is there (horrible casino manager) but I rather have a lesser casino on a nicer ship, than a great casino on a lesser ship (Celebration).

I am going alone on the next trip, but will have ocean view this time, but I will be booked in Concierge Club, it is really the only way to travel with BPL!

Thank you for your quick response. Why did you decide to do the ocean view instead of going back to the Veranda Suite? I am definitely going to take this cruise next summer. And speaking of the casino, I love the idea that both ships have smoke free casinos. I think my opinion of the ship was rather harsh at first because it had just gotten into port and they were still setting things up. I read a review on the Classica written by a 12 year old girl who disliked the ship immensely. So my take on that would be the ship is too sophisticated for the young set. I like that idea, less kids. Don’t get me wrong I love kids and have 7 grandchildren but I’d like a more laid back quiet type of cruise.

I don't think I need the suite, as a single guest, although it is only a $200 pp upgrade. I wonder if I would only pay the $400 but, I think I should at least see what ocean-view is like.

The ship in my opinion, needs to be moved to Miami, for 3/4 night cruises for overnights in Nassau. I was told by many, that the ships security have more problems with 800 passengers, than when they worked on Royal's Oasis, which had 6,500 passengers. BPL needs to stop selling bottles of liquor, for ship's consumption. The "section-eight, welfare crowd" does not have any cash and does not do well with others, like the casino VIP's. The grand liner, is being wasted out of Palm Beach, as the Celebration does this type of crowd well.

This is a 90's sophisticated ship, which is really the perfect size. I love the steakhouse (breakfast & dinner), Pizza Parlor, and the Club section, of the Dining Room. Great hot dogs and German sausage, as well. I will be try the Hot-Rock place and the Specialty Hamburgers, next cruise.

It is not quite because they have an obscene volume level, in the main lounge of the ship! It is sad, because the lounge (in the middle of the ship) is gorgeous, with white leather couches. Such a pretty ship, I could see myself as a casino guest, monthly or so.

I think you hit upon a marketing strategy for the cruise line. They should market the Celebration for the younger more vibrant crowd and emphasize that the Classica is for a more mature and staid passenger. I’ve never really come in contact with what you refer to as section 8 because of the concierge level of service and I’m usually in my cabin by 10 pm.

I just purchased the Concierge Package. When do you get the needed information, reservations, schedule, etc? Is it in your cabin when you board.

Thanks

Denise

When you check in, the concierge meets you and your party in the terminal and walks you onto the ship and up to your room. It’s all done very nicely. Ask me any questions about it. The person who sold you the package should have given you a rundown of all that is offered with this service.

Thank you. They did tell me what was included, but not how it works. I assume I make reservations for dinner, breakfast, etc. on the ship. Is this correct?

You tell the concierge and they take care of all your reservations and activities. Like I said before, the concierge meets you at the terminal when you check in and they take care of the rest.
