Oceania Regatta and Marina tender platforms and how choppy is the sea ?

Recommended Posts

My husband has some mobility problems although he usually has no problems using tenders.

We would like to visit French Polynesia or the islands nearer New Zealand e.g. Fiji, but I am concerned that the majority of the ports entail a tender. I have been put off by photos of the Paul Gaugin and Marina which shows a steep flight of many steps onto the tiny tender platform. I cannot find any details of the Regatta tender process not even from Oceania.

I would greatly appreciate any comments about tendering in this region. .

Also, are the seas particularly choppy between November and February?

thanks

I looked at my photos of our cruise with the Regatta. We reached the tender platform from the inside of the ship. The platform itself is close to the water level with a direct access to the tender boat. We had calm seas on that cruise. I am not sure they would even attempt tendering when the ocean is too choppy. I don't remember the tender platform to be any different from other cruise ships except for those with a "marina" back platform and rubber dinghies.

You would be better asking this question on the Oceania board.
