Another thing we like is clay pots made by Emile Henry, also from France.  The potato pot is wonderful - a spherical pot in two pieces that fit together to make a sphere with flat area at each pole, about size of basketball.  You put in 3-4# of plain, washed potatoes, a clove of garlic (unpeeled!) and a bay leaf, put on burner - low for 5 min, then to medium (we have gas).  After 15 min, you flip it over (other end of the basketball), and repeat 15 minutes later.  Total 45 minutes, simple potatoes have been transformed into something truly wonderful.  Hard to describe, but you want to eat them like candy; miraculous.

As a lover of any kind of potato, clearly, I must find this pot for Christmas.

A man and his dog were walking along a road. The man was enjoying the scenery, when it suddenly occurred to him that he was dead.

He remembered dying, and that the dog walking beside him had been dead for years. He wondered where the road was leading them.

After a while, they came to a high, white stone wall along one side of the road. It looked like fine marble. At the top of a long hill, it was broken by a tall arch that glowed in the sunlight.

When he was standing before it he saw a magnificent gate in the arch that looked like mother-of-pearl, and the street that led to the gate looked like pure gold. He and the dog walked toward the gate, and as he got closer, he saw a man at a desk to one side.

When he was close enough, he called out, 'Excuse me, where are we?'

'This is Heaven, sir,' the man answered.

Would you happen to have some water?' the man asked.

Of course, sir. Come right in, and I'll have some ice water brought right up'.The man gestured, and the gate began to open.

'Can my friend,' gesturing toward his dog, 'come in, too?' the traveller asked.

'I'm sorry, sir, but we don't accept pets.'

The man thought a moment and then turned back toward the road and continued the way he had been going with his dog.

After another long walk, and at the top of another long hill, he came to a dirt road leading through a farm gate that looked as if it had never been closed. There was no fence. As he approached the gate, he saw a man inside, leaning against a tree and reading a book.

'Excuse me!' he called to the man. 'Do you have any water?'

'Yeah, sure, there's a pump over there, come on in..'

'How about my friend here?' the traveller gestured to the dog.

There should be a bowl by the pump.'

They went through the gate, and sure enough, there was an old-fashioned hand pump with a bowl beside it. The traveller filled the water bowl and took a long drink himself, then he gave some to the dog.

When they were full, he and the dog walked back toward the man who was standing by the tree.

'What do you call this place?' the traveller asked.

This is Heaven,' he answered.

'Well, that's confusing,' the traveller said. 'The man down the road said that was Heaven, too.'

'Oh, you mean the place with the gold street and pearly gates? Nope. That's hell.'

'Doesn't it make you mad for them to use your name like that?'

'No, we're just happy that they screen out the folks who would leave their best friends behind.'

Thanks Lois!  We are about 225 miles northeast of Toronto.  Our nearest hotspot is Ottawa.  It's about 35 miles northeast of us.  Our small town is doing OK so far with 5 active cases.

Great above, FUN! posts by Spins, zqtchas and mysty.  Super loved the story by QueSeraSera.  Great sharing!!

Major college football coming up this afternoon.  This includes at noon on national TV for #3-ranked Ohio State hosting #9 Indiana.   Both teams are undefeated.  Covid-19 has affected college football, limited attendance in big stadiums, forcing key match-ups to be scrubbed, etc.

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

Hi Terry, my Noles were supposed to get the crap beaten out of them by Clemson but the game was postponed this morning😲

Agree, Lois!!  For FSU, getting that game scrubbed this morning should be counted as a lucky victory for the 'Noles.  Assume it was for Covid reasons.  Right?

THANKS!  Enjoy!  Terry in Ohio

Hi Terry, yes......it was but not sure what happened exactly. It actually was cancelled TODAY.

From what I have read, the medical teams of each side could not agree...........

Appreciate this follow-up from Lois. From ESPN this morning, they had these background highlights: “Multiple sources told ESPN that a Clemson player tested positive for COVID-19 on Friday after practicing with the Tigers during the week. That player was symptomatic but had tested negative twice during the week, according to sources. That led Florida State to say it was not comfortable playing Saturday's game, the source said.”  Smart move by Florida State??!!

Kind of like with cruise ships, there are serious challenges and questions as to what if happens if you have one or two infections on a sailing and/or with an athletic event.  Do you just "isolate" those few individuals?  Or, do you head back to a base location, quarantine everyone, cancel, etc.????  No easy, sure or quick solutions and fixes.
