HELP! Hotel suggestions needed

Recommended Posts

Hello cruisers! We are sailing out of NOLA in April and I am looking for a hotel to stay at a night or two pre-cruise. Here is the thing, I have an elevator phobia and am looking for a hotel that I could use the stairs at (without climbing more than 3/4 flights). This is our first time in New Orleans so we would like to do a little sightseeing. Any recommendations?

Try the Cornstalk Hotel on Royal Street, or the Andrew Jackson. There are a number of 2 to 3 story places in the French Quarter and the Garden District that fit your need.

Every year, I stay at the Best West Western St. Charles Inn (

3636 St Charles Ave) in Uptown New Orleans for the Irish Channel St. Patrick's Day Parade. In front of the hotel is the St. Charles streetcar line which provides convenient access to the French Quarter. The hotel is only three stories tall.

I march in the parade. I have no problem go up the stairs after the parade when I am sore and tired (the parade is a long walk).

You might also want to check out Hampton Inn New Orleans St. Charles Ave./Garden District (

3626 St. Charles Ave). I never stayed there before so I do not know how the stairs are but it does not look like a tall hotel.
