ESCAPE - September 9th Bermuda - TS/H Florence

Decent, 'relatively calm night at seas; not perfect, but relatively calm considering our path and the related storm activities. Yep, some movement, but we're in the Atlantic with a TS/H that just moved through.

Taking in the usual, daily morning urn of coffee at O'Sheehan's will wife get ready for walk and then breakfast. Laughing at the LARGE GROUP of really young passengers having a huge and boisterous breakfast AFTER HAVING NOT GONE TO BED YET.

Oh, to be young.

Got a real surprise at Bayamo's last night; actually a couple.

THE MENU IS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT THAN THE DOWNLOAD FROM THE SITE A MONTH OR SO AGO.

First, the reservation system and front desk for dining SAID IT WAS FULLY BOOKED ALL NIGHT. We walked in at 5:45, during our hour there, not more than 5-6 other tables occupied. The bar is always FULL as they have a mojito reputation that appears quite good.

Second, to our surprise (expectations were real low), it was GREAT. The Alaskan King Crab Legs appetizer would have been my entire dinner. About 10 legs sliced in half, cool arrangement, lemon bag and butter. It was surprising really good and the volume was nuts. Cancelled 2nd course and good thing. The 2nd from the top seafood combination of Lobster Tail, Red Snapper Fish Fillet (4 by 8 inch cut 3 inch thick) and fully shelled grilled Prawns/Shrimp. I ate the white fish, 1/3 of the HUGE half lobster tail and none of the shrimp. It was great. Wife had 5 ounce (off menu) fillet; as good as Cagney's. NICE SURPRISE.

Hoping all is well on the US coast dealing with Florence; checking on it now all the time.

We've been very lucky, the sun is already up and still another hot, bright day ahead. The SEAS were bigger yesterday afternoon, but it appears Captain made an adjustment for dinner and show time. THE SHIP WAS REALLY NOT CHALLENGED BY THE SWELLS AT ALL.

A great place to sit, relax, have a drink and watch the weather is the District Brewhouse. Wicked comfortable leather couches, nice environment and great views. Good beer too, as that is what it is known for, but also carries a FULL BAR.

Thanks so much for all the updates. Glad all of you are safe and enjoying yourselves!

It's called the Sugarcane Mojito Bar. LOL! It was first introduced on Getaway.

YEP. That's correct. LOL on me. ;p

Never been there, but after your post remembered the signage. Very busy place 4 sure.

We've done Getaway and Escape(s); the prior food venue was something we had NO interest in so we missed it. Also, wife HATES THE SMOKE in that general area on all decks proximate to casino. On this cruise, more noticeable than late last year out of Miami.

The Sugarcane Mojito Bar is on the Waterfront on Getaway (inside/outside), right beside the Ice Bar. It's not near the restaurant (which is Ocean Blue on Getaway, I believe.)

Another great day on the seas. The air much less humid. Only now beginning to cloud up. Compared to our worries concerns last week, we've have absolutely gorgeous weather and seas once leaving NY. One more day to go at sea. Really can't ask for any better week given the circumstances at hand.

No pic. Please re-post. Thanks so much and enjoy your last day at sea.

I see all of the 4 pics on my Surface Pro and my wifes Dell laptop. Could be something re: the browser you use.

I'll resize them and try again and also attach them as PDF's.

Gooood morning & thank you for keeping up the useful info feed to us following along - enjoy your lunch, last full sea day onboard - might be a bit more cross wind outside but should ease later on, Air temperature on arrival in the morning should be about 68 degree, less humid than today ... Marinetraffic AIS showing 0700 UTC as ETA (3 AM, EDT)

The pool and sun decks must be packed full again, and, sounded like the outdoors were never closed & blocked off for safety reasons during the week - and, hats off to the captain & officers on the bridge for plotting & charting a safe course heading to make the best and most out of the situation ...

Have a great & wonderful day !

P.S. on those first set of uploads this morning, I had troouble opening them up on my Android tablet, smartphone & Dell laptop ... re-sized, 2nd. set are perfect. Could be related to CC's website functionality - I used to have no trouble uploading direct via Tapatalk posting, but recently, switch to CC's Forum app as alternate - both auto-resized images with little to no fuzz, unlike using ...

Just as tracking data projected, Escape in-bound slowly at 13 knots, could be in as early as 3 to 4 AM. Calm seas & nice.

Too bad Escape is not coming back from Bermuda though. Turns out they had very nice weather there last week. Wish I could have flown to Bermuda and been there without the cruise ships. One couple scheduled on Escape did just that.

Just to close out, back in NY quite early this AM. Cleared Customs well prior to 8. Caught our Uber Black right across the main intersection (WHAT A WILD GROUP OF TRANSPORTATION "PROVIDERS" AS WE WERE ASKED 100 TIMES) from known, previous driver and at EWR and through TSA by 8:20.

Great time. Bermuda is still there. Will try again another time. We had great weather and seas. We had a great cruise.

Will do a review of some of the unique observations from our week in another thread.

Thanks to all for so much information and input. Even met some of you on board.
