Warning - those with concerns and problems with "R" ships on Oceania

Recommended Posts

Please explain “R” ship? Thank you

The “R” ships are the four smaller ships of the O fleet. They are the Regatta, Insignia, Sirena and the Nautica. The “R” is a holdover from the defunct Renaissance cruise line which had eight of these ships built.

"R" ships are the 4 ships operated by Oceania that originally were Renaissance ships. Oceania Cruise Line started when Renaissance Cruise Line stopped operation and Oceania purchased 3 of their ships. The 4th "R" ship is the Sirena which was purchased from Princess Cruise Line (Pacific Princess) and, also, was one of the original Renaissance ships. Princess purchased 2 of the Renaissance ships and now has just one - Ocean Princess.

Thanks everyone for the info about the “R” ships. Why is there a “concern”? I will be on the Regatta in 2020.

The cabins may be a shock to those that sail on the larger mass market ships especially the W/C & showers

They do not bother us but many find them too small for their liking

Actually, it's the opposite....Ocean Princess (formerly called Tahitian Princess) became Sirena and Pacific Princess is still in use by Princess. :)
